As far as I know she has been doing a very good job in CT and I hope she doesn't get sidelined just because she is white.

her and the other black guy are both very democratic strengths and weaknesses to both. obviously having a black opposition leader will pull in the masses votes more however zille has been mayor and is more like a leon.
tony is still gonna be around and i'm sure he'll want someone who understands his mission and vision completely to take over.

Like the above post said, a black DA leader will draw more votes from parts the DA never recieved votes. Zille is doing a real good job in Cape Town, although many ways was already tried to lift her out of her seat.
So it's going to be a very difficult decission.

I hope the black leader wins, perhaps that will result in some competition in the political arena. One can only hope....

I have to agree: Zille is doing a very good job here, but I too am hoping that a Black leader is chosen. I don't think that the DA will ever grow to become an effective opposition if it is perceived to be a "White party". A Black leader will go a long way to changing that perception.

I agree, Zille seems like an awesome mayor, but a black face for the DA will make them a formidable opposition.

I think that Zille may be the best person for the job. But she's doing a good job in Cape Town, and wonder which is more valuable. I know that shes' brought in consultants to look at a possible workload as both mayor and party leader, but can't help thinking she'll be stretched a little thinly.

I'm glad that i'm not brain washed into thinking that everyhing needs to be black.
