Is it only me tho think it is the most awfully dodgy service ever to pollute SA cyberspace ?

As soon as you want to make use of their more advanced features (pretty much do more than send/receive emails) you run into one problem after the other, and as nice and friendly as the support staff are, they don't really sort out the problems in acceptable time frame.

sukkel sukkel sukkel

And you use calendar/resource sharing, signature synchronization, the GAL, etc without any problems whatsoever ?

We only do customer rollouts depending on the ICT environment and policy, my involvement is little to none, no issues with SLA's. What issues are you experiencing?

Endless issues with calendar sharing between users, one has to contact Zimbra support to create a resource calendar and then apply to correct permissions to it takes days upon days.

Had problems where signature synchronization completely jams the signature up.

Had to contact IS support to manually mount an archive to a newly created account

Had an issue where not all users are shown on the GAL, or cannot be searched for, or something like that.

There are more...

I also have very little to do with it, but when a Zimbra issue does come my way, I just wanna quit my job.

I've been eyeing Zimbra for a while, just never had the balls to migrate from Exchange. Way too much PT.

We had Zimbra, took the plunge and went for Google Apps 2 years ago.

Avoid it.

Rather use Google apps. At least you know you'll have solid support.

Our own company utilises Google Apps, but this might change due to PoPI, otherwise we will need to cough up to add Mimecast to the mix. However MS is looking to change their "hosted" based solutions in countries such as ours, but this cannot be discussed at this stage.

Your Zimbra issues do sound like something to do with your host... cannot say anything, don't know your environment.

A rather interesting alternative to Zimbra, well there are many, is Axigen.

If you want wierd issues, use Axigen...

Zimbra is perfect, never have issues with paid for and free version.

I bet your headaches are coming from having multiple Outlook versions installed and not up to date. Also users having to much access to change their settings via their phone and trying to do it the same time on their laptop/PC.

If I were you, I would start googling the issue yourself to see if the IT company is feeding you bs stories

Did you read through the problems I listed ? Are you using all of that without any problems ?

How do you go about creating a resource calendar and setting the permissions on it ?

So the hosting support staff taking ages to set permissions on calendars, or getting them shared, is because of mulitple Outlook versions installed (whatever that means) ? Or outlook not being up to date ? Really ??

People can change mailbox/calendar configuration from their mobile devices ? Really ??

Actually I think if I were me, I should start doubting whether Axigen has any weird issues at all.
