ZK Fingerprint reader for Attendance

so we have one of these that someone installed and didnt follow through. Being the 'tech guy' i've been tasked to get it working.

Anyone have experience with these?

Found a local reseller, managed to find the software, setup the device (ip address, etc) but for some odd reason the software just wont connect to it. It picks it up on network, replies to pings. But unable to connect, and as such unable to retrief attendance logs.

Taking a shot in the dark before i call local suppliers and try to locate a techie to come in.

ZK Biometrics = cheap and nasty Chinese cr*p... The software that comes with it is buggy and seriously unstable at the best of times...

I advise that you know that thing off the wall, claim on insurance and get something decent.

If you insist on attempting to make it work:

Make sure the device is in the same IP range\subnet as the host PC.

Then make sure that you aren't running the demo software (doesnt really work) or the 'premium' version as it won't connect without a license. Good luck

yup, figured it to be an el cheapo build quality is horrible. Anyway, will try that ip range/subnet tomorrow (i'm sure its sorted but will double check)

Spoke to importers, turns out the "communication" default password is "0" - filled it in and everything worked fine.
