Zoom vs Teams vs Meet

Teams is those are the choice but WebEx if given the choice. Have tried zoom, Skype, teams and WebEx. Found WebEx the illest of them all.
 
Ran a test the other day, video embedded in a PowerPoint presentation. Ran back to back with he same participants over the same connections.

The stuttering and lag on Zoom made it unusable. Meet ran it faultlessly.

Add in all the hassle of Zoom wanting you to install its app all the time, meet just opens in the browser and works.

Haven't used Teams and dropped Skype meet now after having issues with the meeting dropping.

So far Meet FTW.
 
For work we HAVE to use Teams and its worked flawlessly in the last 18 months. Pace of development and upgrades of course has increased in the last quarter but it is stable and covers all our needs. I also find it uses less bandwidth than Zoom for the same tasks, eg. video calls, sharing documents etc

For catching up with friends Zoom works well - still to try Meet

hehe nah you misunderstood me, they only claimed to implement it with vague cryptographic standards and leveraging it on the acquisition of Keybase, which specialised in centralised, walled-garden encryption. Nothing is stopping them from interceding a person's stream unencrypted or even doing so properly if they wanted a particular person's or group's broadcast, and we'll never be able to verify it until a similar scandal pops up in the news later on, if ever. I wasn't going off on you or your post because you are correct, they claimed to implement it and follow procedure to boot older clients.
 
Whatsap is a phone call and uses lots of paid data. Are the others the same or do they use internet connections

All these services are or make use of the internet, WhatsApp included, it's not a phone call rated by a telephony authority.
 
Zoom for business, getting the non tech people on the team to use anything else was too big a challenge...

Oops but you got the point, unless you are super duper anal...

Zoom defaults to whatever it believes your connection can handle, which is often totally out of whack with the bandwidth you have available. You can tell it you'd like to use HD but there is no user setting for defining what resolution you want, whether that is high or low.

Reminds me of YouTube not allowing users to define app wide video resolution, one day it'll default to 1080p and destroy your mobile data the next day with the same line speed it'll play everything in 360p.

That's not true. Whatever resolution you choose it'll remember that and default to it next time.
 
Teams is much more than just a videoconferencing solution though. It pains me to say this, but it makes using things like Word Documents an absolute pleasure for planning since it can open them right in the chat window.

also not entirely true as well, as it defaults to what you picked for the session yes, but not for all time -- which defaults to bandwidth attenuated speeds otherwise. There's a reason some extensions were made to default to a setting or third party frontends let you pick one by default but not on vanilla YouTube.

I never experienced that myself.
 
I tried to do a Teams session with a guy from Arizona - I have MS 365, but it kept insisting I log in with a company email. Gave up and used Skype instead.
 
Have tried them all, and quality wised ito connection, video etc Zoom works best for me. Screen sharing, annotations what what also feels more polished
My experience though, not gospel
 
Don't use either extensively. Kid is using teams for school and it seems to be the business but I tried to register an account and I don't see any free way of doing it. So reverted to Zoom. Works well, maintained a 4 hour session without any drop in quality or service whatsoever.

Lol, I wish, try again.

Only YouTube vanced you can specify what the default res is or using YouTube enhanced on Desktop.
 
Teams by a mile.

Everything else is playing a dispirited game of string-telephone....
