I managed to get my hands on a ZTE MF286C again, and I decided to make an application so that viewing signal stats would be more accessible.

With this first version all you can do is to view signal stats. In a future update, I'll add functionality to set custom DNS servers and lock to supported bands.

How to use the application:

  • Edit the config file -> mac-m1/zte-mf286c-config.yaml
  • Navigate to the folder using Terminal:
    • cd ~/Downloads/zte-mf286c-tools/mac-m1
  • Run the script with:
    • ./show-signal-stats.sh
  • Edit the config file -> win64/zte-mf286c-config.yaml
  • Navigate to the win64 folder using File Explorer.
  • Open show-signal-stats.bat
    • You may get an "Unknown Publisher" warning. You can safely ignore and run the application.

Feel free to give it a try.

DISCLAIMER: While there is no risk in using this application, I take no responsibility for any issues that arise. This software is still in development. :)

The application does not make any changes to the router at the moment.
