Zuma assault case complete

Does it matter? Since when is spilling a drink considered assault?

Just because it doesn't cause injury doesn't change the fact that it's a way of physically attacking someone. It's not acceptable to throw drinks at people just like it's not acceptable to slap someone on the face.

Although if phaktza's post above is true, then this is a truly stupid court case and Zuma deserves to be ridiculed in the news

The police have completed their investigations into the allegations that a Gauteng racehorse owner spilled his drink on President Jacob, the Durban Magistrate's Court hears.

:D :D Does ge go by this name now ?

If it was deliberate, then yes, the guy should be locked up for a brief stint to educate him a bit... I might not be Zuma's biggest fan :p but he is still the president of the country.

I'm surprised you have even the tiniest form of respect for him...

Respect for him is irrelevant - I'm sure there are many people who can't stand Obama - what do you think will happen to them if they deliberate do something like that to the US president?

Zuma was chosen as the leader of this country, and that's what he is, all I can do to change it is vote... which is what I do :)

It also doesn't say much for who ever watches our president if they let someone get close enough to spill a drink on him.... imagine if it was some right winger with a gun....

What xrapidx is trying to say is that one ought to show respect for the position of President, regardless of the incumbent.

Quite correct.

However - our taxes could be put to better use than to prosecute for non-events like this.

On that I agree 100% ... it is not as if it was a real fight / assault.

If it was an accident, one hopes that a leader (and I am using term loosely here) would show some moral leadershiup by way of forgiveness and being above such pettiness.

Then again , the current incumbent is quite litigious ... just ask the papers.

I disagree, since you can't have one person represent the voices of many, but then again, that's my ideological views ;)

Assault by deadly drink with intent to do grievous waterly harm.
We would have been in civil war now if he was accidentally knocked into a pool, VIP security vs the people.

Don't know why someone don't piss on the tit & get it over & done with... so that it can be a legitimate charge :wtf:

He is acting like mugpie Mugabe more by the day... /throws his ape a banana:D

It's the principal of the matter.I heard that the guy threw ice at Zuma. That's not something you do,you can go on about how its a waste of tax payers money etc but in the end if it was deliberate then Zuma has every right to claim he was assaulted.I'd rather know they were using the justice system instead of Zumas goons taking the offender and 'educating' him on how to behave.

You heard?

How come this allegation isn't splashed ALL over the papers then?

You miss the point.

Articles mentioned that Zuma was not aware of the incident - which means the guy missed in his effort to throw something at Zuma and presumably the bystanders or bodyguards saw it.

Furthermore, if you are the President, you learn to live with the fact that A LOT of people will not like you ... it goes with the territory. If you are really a leader of note, you let things like this go ... you don't lay a charge against a guy for something that (in essence) did not happen. I would be impressed with Zuma if he e.g. made a joke about the entire incident, or invited the guy to have tea with him ... you know, something forgiving and reconciliatory.

Not everyone is that mature though.
