Gavin: I think it's the arrogance of a village idiot that makes people either love him or loathe him. That and his zero morals and zero common sense.

Hey Angelo. You really do think we're a bunch of racists. We're as proud of any south african - no matter what the colour. We just want it to work - and as we are now in the position you were in (re: BEE and AA) - you can imagine - that we don't think this is working. (And 1 million expat south africans would attest to that.) (And 3/4's don't tell the gub they're not coming back.)

Zuma? C'mon guy - the man cannot run a bank account (witness all his fund raising) - and his "generally corrupt relationship with Schaik."

I think you don't give JZ, SA government and Telkom enough credit. There gravitational pull to unite people who would otherwise be at each others throats is astonishing.

Just look at us. We are united in our distaste for them. Now that is saying something.

:D

JZ is not part of that gravitational pull dude. The ANC was extremely tight before he started his antics, now there is a definite rift (whether the ANC likes to admit to it or not)

Serious question.

What does everyone have against Zuma being president.

He was found innocent, rightly, of rape.
He was never found guilty for fraud....
...

Lets see:
1 - At a time where this country struggles to come to terms with the profoundly disturbing HIV/AIDS epidemic in South Africa, do you want your president to be a man who engages in unprotected sex with a woman infected with HIV ?
2 - At a time where this country desperately needs government (and the private sector) to not only sustain, but increase the growth of the country’s economy, to reduce a precariously large unemployed population, do you want your president to be a man who engages in financially irresponsible acts [hiz so-called financial adviser had to write off his personal debt because he has spent beyond his means].
3 - Zuma lovez and regularly quotes and sings the phrase “Awu leth’umshini wami”. For those who don’t know, this phrase translates to “Bring me my machine gun”. Surely you don't want your president running around carrying automatic weapons ?

Zuma is a man who seemingly gives absolutely no thought to the consequences of his actions.

HE IS NOT A PRESIDENT, HE IS A FREAKING WARRIOR.
Wake up.

As I said
Obviously his moral standing sucks but there seems to be more to it and for the life of me I can't figure it out.

Good reason not to make him the Finance Minister, but since the president really has nothing to do with running the economy I don't think it's a very valid reason

3 - Zuma lovez and regularly quotes and sings the phrase “Awu leth’umshini wami”. For those who don’t know, this phrase translates to “Bring me my machine gun”. Surely you don't want your president running around carrying automatic weapons ?

There are many songs out there that people sing but don't act out the words, again this one doesn't sit with me as the real reason.

Zuma is a man who seemingly gives absolutely no thought to the consequences of his actions.

Now you may actually have something here, obviously this is an important trait for a leader. Is this why people are so against him?

Have you ever heard him speak before? He is a very very good public speaker which is half the reason he has so much support.

Oh and before you judge me Angelo I couldn't think of anyone worse for the presidency than Tony "whine whine whine" Leon...

It's not a colour thing.

If there was nothing else to say about him, excpect for the fact that he said that having a shower after having unprotected sex with a hiv positive woman would prevent him from getting Aids, that would be enough.

Being an idiot is not enough to disqualify you for presidency. Look at GWB. Zuma is an idiot AND a moronic imbecile. That is enough.

@Gavin .. nope .. I have not heard him speak.

Have you heard Hitler's speeches ? He was also a very good speaker.

Dammit .. being able to run your own finances is an important quality to me that a president MUST have.

I spoze he could be used by the ANC as an extremely effective mouthpiece.
But .. once he realises the power he has and decides that he has some moral obligation to start a civil war there will be no stopping this man.

Like I said .. I fear him, so I don't want him as president.

Most people in power are... Mugabe on the other hand sounds like an imbecile onpaper and in person

Why so that when he buys himself a R20m house at the end he can be slaughtered in the media :p (Don't answer I am just being full of it)

A civil war is obviously a worrying thought, I just wonder how much power the president of SA ever has? Telkom seems to completely ignore our current president. I remember when we all found out Mbeki was going to be the next president everyone panicked because he was going to kill us all and start a civil war.

That never happened, maybe Zuma does have a point about the conspiracy?

If I could choose a new president I think I would choose one of the following

1. Tokyo Sexwale
2. Trevor Manuel
3. Tito Mboweni

I think they would all do very well as President. Trevor has already ruled himself out and I doubt Tokyo would give up the high flyer lifestyle, maybe we could bend Tito's arm?

Thought you were gone for good, so your threat to run away from the forum was lame?
Out of Order Angelo. You have become as elusive. Self imposed exile is not the place to be - and anyone who chooses to break that (after placing himself there) is welcome.

its easy to be a good speaker when you dont write your own speeches, you mean, he's a good reader..

Except when he has to think and throw in his own comments like, when he was a lil boy if a gay man stood infront of him he would drop him to the ground (thats only a week or two old too..)

Zuma doesnt have the brains to run a pre-school, nevermind south africa
