Could someone please advise me on how exactly you put such a router into bridge mode? Thanks a lot

cheers bru.
no idea where my manuals gone....so thanks for the link

opened it in html, worked.
it doesnt give me the option for bridge interface however. could it be blocked in some way?

what about the mweb 7401vgp? n e one tested this and goit it to work yet?

guys please!
simple question....someone should b able to help!

Log into your router and go to quick start >> Encapsulation and click on the drop down menu to select "Pure bridge LLC". Once you have selected pure bridge mode click on apply. Please click on Save config to save the configuration to the router.

Excuse a dumb noob question! Why or for what purpose would one want to use bridged mode? I have a Billion 7402G and am curious. Thank you.

It allows you to set up a dial-up style connection from your PC instead of the router doing it itself. The thing is then multiple PC's can then setup internet connetions through the router each with different usernames and passwords.

yip, or if you were wanting to use RouteSentry like tydvirtaal so you can split local and international traffic on your PC

I see that the router also allows PPOE with passthrough, any idea what this means?

It allows you to setup an ADSL account on the router that is used to connect to the internet but it also allows you to make use of the bridge interface.

Ie. Say now you want to use routesentry (other bridge applications) then you can, but the average person connected to the same network will just use the normal settings entered into the router.

Hope this makes sense.

hahaha!
i did it!
well, almost
just need to put it into bridge mode and get a local account

im not sure
hence the question
il call their callcentre and see where that gets me :D
