Hi all, does anyone know where I can find Terms and conditions for "Vodacom Twincall"? Are they the same as "Vodacom Data Sim"? If they are does this mean that a "twincall sim" activated to a 1 gig data contract package will be able to use data, or will it only be able to use Voice? Really hope I get accurate info as the Vodacom consultants have opposing ideas and I don’t know what to believe!

Thanks

U can use your twin sim for data also, but the drawback with twin sim for data is that your wont be able to receive calls while the twin sim is active in your modem. with data sim both sims can be active @ the same time.

If you want a second SIM to use in a router or modem that you want to share off a voice contract with an added data bundle then your want DataSIM. Twincall deactivates the primary sim when the secondard sim connects to the network (was intended for people with a 2nd phone in their car).

I have a Vodacom Broadband Standard MyGig 1.2 and went to Vodacom yesterday to get another sim card and asked for the Data SIM service so that I could I could connect to the internet and use 2 devices at the same time. They activated Twin Call because they could not activate this Data SIM option. Is the Data SIM not an option for a data contact? See the blurb off the vodacom website below.

Data SIM

What is it?
With Data products such as BlackBerry , Vodafone Live! and Vodafone Mobile Connect data cards, you may need to have multiple SIM cards, linked to one contract, that can be used simultaneously on all devices, allowing you to make and receive voice calls and SMSs as well as use data at the same time.

The Data SIM allows you to have up to 3 SIMs that can be used at the same time and be billed to one contract.

Only the Primary SIM card will be provisioned with voice/video telephony, while the additional SIM cards will be for data only.

You will only be allowed to have a BlackBerry service on the primary SIM card or on one of the additional SIMs, while having data on both the primary and additional SIMs.

Only standard Contract customers may subscribe to this service by visiting a Vodacom Service Provider.

Why should I use this service?
All SIM cards can be active and attached to the network at the same time.

The SIM cards will not be dependent on one another and can all be used at the same time, regardless of the handset or device that is being used at the time.

The SIM cards will all belong to the same contract and therefore there will always be one contract holder who will be responsible for the contract as per existing contract rules.

The contract holder will receive one invoice for the primary and all associated SIM cards, which will include all charges to the primary and associated SIMs.

How do I get it?
Visit your nearest Vodacom Service Provider to subscribe to this Data SIM service.

Only subscribers on the standard contract packages qualify to have the Data SIM service.

For more information, call Vodacom Customer Care on 082 111, FREE from a Vodacom cellphone.

How much does it cost?
A monthly subscription fee of R9.00 will be charged for each additional SIM card.

Data Sim is currently not available for normal data contracts , i have heard that there maybe advances in the direction of somehow making it available to those packages in the future though.

I have personally used my twincall sim card in my modem while making and receiving calls on my master sim without missing any calls. This of cause is not the ideal way to use the twincall sim as it is not what it was intended for. All i am trying to say is that it wont cost you anything to test it as there is no subscription for twincall except the purchase of the sim card.

You can certainly test and see if it works for you.

Thanks VodacomData. How will I know when the service becomes available?

Does vodacom still offer the Twincall SIM??

Im getting another device but would also like to use my old device with same contract.
