I think it will be cheapest to buy another drive that is exactly the same and transfer the controller card, transfer the data to a 3rd HDD, switch controllers back and replace the drive under warranty. (I assume that it was the firmware problem that caused death?)

You do recovery as well, besides just fixing the firmware issues?

I need a price for 1TB data recovery.

dude, one of these days Im gonna quit my day job (yes Im being serious) coz I spend my whole week evenings doing recovery... bad for my gaming time! :( :)

Hi HTC_guy

I picked up this thread on a google search for data recovery. I have a mechanically failed 80Gb laptop disk drive. Would you be able to quote me on recovering the data please?

Hi all,

I've been busy with my website recently and I've got it up and running. A search for 'Data recovery Cape Town' returns this thread fairly high up, so I thought it best to add a link to my site and services here.

For affordable, professional data recovery services please see my site or contact me directly.

I think presence of my post is relevant to the topic, so I feel it's appropriate. If a moderator feels that it offends or causes damage to anyone or anything, then by all means may it be removed.

Not true as they are not airtight. Hence the breather holes with particulate filters.

I know, I'm nitpicking :D

Not in the true sense of the word, no, you are correct. It is not 'air tight' as there needs to be some air movement so that it can equalise pressure etc, but the rest of the definition does apply:

"...hermetic seals are airtight seals that prevent the invasion of moisture, humidity, and any outside contaminant to enter the sealed package..."

"...used for electrical or electronic parts that are designed and intended to secure against the entry of water vapor and foreign bodies in order to maintain the proper functioning and reliability of their contents..."

For ease of a basic explanation I thought it was appropriate.

Thanks southbit, just bookmarked your site... for just in case.
