OFFICIAL HTC Desire Thread

Upgraded to android 2.2 on my desire non root way a few months ago. In the last few weeks my phone keeps dropping the signal not sure if its my area or the phone. Any one have any advice as to what i can do?
 
If you're rooted, you might as well try some Gingerbread before Xmas! Oxygen 2.0 Gingerbread RC1 is ready for download at

I tested the Test3 and am running Test4 Pre-Beta's at the moment and they were almost perfect (main problems were some wifi dropping and no vid camera) - I'll be trying out the RC1 tonight.

Please note that this is not a Sense build, so no sense widgets. This is almost standard Google Android.

Downloaded earlier, will be flashing in a couple of minutes, will post back after playing around a couple of minutes ;)

EDIT: Well, it looks really very nice, couple of small things that I like, my phone is on charge so Im not checking it out too much right now, but it seems good! Can't get Quadrant to run on it though, just goes blank and stops...

I received notification of an OTA upgrade for my Desire (non-rooted) which I installed. Build No 2.10.405.2. I haven't had a chance to see if here's much difference BUT it did completely reset my screentop/desktop whatever it's called including wiping out the saved password and login for Peep. This is an irritation in irself. Any feedback on this upgrade?

If you haven't installed, just wait a bit. Some users have reported loss of wifi and poor battery life. My wifi is fine, but battery is down 40% in just three hours. I'm going to keep an eye on it and report back. I may be a little while though as I'm working 12 hour days at this time of the year.
 
My current thinking is don't bother. Update Information is:1.Android OS update patch 2.Enhanced multi inbox Gmail support 3.Improved Russia keyboard layout
Unless you've go multi inbox Gmail Apps issues or speak Russian, you don't need it. Watch this space.

I've updated mine with no problems whatsoever.

Just updated my phone without any issues.
After update 2.10.405.2 I checked for updates again, found another 10.29.405.2 and then another 2.29.405.5
No data loss, home screen resets, or any other issues. Will let you guys know if I come across any problems.
 
i did a couple updates, not sure if they were the same as Jovs says, but now when i check it says 2.29.405.2 available.. 28.87Mb.. i've tried this one atleast 5 times and it always says software update file is corrupted once it's completed downloading.
Whats up with that :/

do you have enough internal storage for the download?
Saw on some other forums that the guys are having issues with insufficient internal storage.

"Users are reporting trouble when applying this update to devices that have been “debranded” in any way. So if you have been tweaking your phone or experimenting with alternative software, it’s best that you avoid this update until further information is made available."

Yup have more than enough internal space, and have never done any "debranding" or rooting or anything at all.
 
I have never had an OTA firmware update from Vodacom, although I know of others that have. I did download the OTA_BRAVO_FROYO firmware file though and it works great. Is that possibly why I can't get updates? Is there any other way to get them?

i see in your sig you're running Oxygen 2 RC3. Last i checked, RC4 was out but i was just wondering, how is it really? i've never done any rooting/ROM loading and was wondering if now's the time to start, or wait for a proper release of Oxygen?
 
Has anyone had any experience with getting the HTC Desire screen replaced/repaired.
The screen cracked, not the outside glass piece but the screen itself. The phone can still charge and appears to be starting up fine an as far as I can tell only the screen has been damaged.
Anyone know what the cost of a new screen is?

I ran Oxygen since beta, and I have not had any problems with daily use. Only thing still not working is the camcorder, other than that I am very happy with it. Running RC5 now, just lazy to update the sig :) The biggest reason why I am staying with Gingerbread in the RC phase, is my battery life is amazing since I flashed it, don't know if its Oxygen itself or Gingerbread, but I am definitely sticking with it!
