OFFICIAL HTC Desire Thread

I recommend Opendesire, very fast and lots of user friendly settings. ROM is very stable as well.

Anyone have problem with phone overheat after intensive browsing/playing games, and then your Desire just keep on restarting? Had a problem like with LeeDroid 1.something, and tried flashing 2.2f LeeDroid, deFrost 6.0j, both version are not very stable, phone just freeze or restart randomly.

Opendesire is the only one without giving me any problem for the whole week.

That restarting problem was with the first batch of Desires. It is a hardware fault. If you un-root it and put on stock ROM it will still do the same. I say return the phone for warranty purposes.

The best ROM for the Desire at the moment (in my opinion) is Oxygen - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829734. It's been created by the same guy who made OpenDesire.

Also, Gingerbread 2.3 released for the Nexus One - http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

Damn, thanks for the tip buddy, just flashed Oxygen and its really amazingly fast! Very very nice!

No worries, there is going to be a new version released soon with the Gingerbread keyboard and lock screen. And then once the AOSP source code is released for Gingerbread, Oxygen will be updated to 2.3

Yeah I read, I will definitely be staying on Oxygen for now, best for me so far, and I've had them all...

Don't worry about it. Android manages its processes and memory in a completely different manner to what you might be used to. Apart from closing an app that is misbehaving, you don't need a task killer. Haven't ever had one on my phone as you can close offending apps through the settings menu.

Look at this thread by DAE_JA_VOO for any information on rooting and pretty much anything else Android related.

so i have read as many guides as i can , and honestly its not making any sense maybe i am just a bit slow i followed this guide
http://theunlockr.com/2010/09/20/how-to-root-the-htc-desire-unrevoked-method/ and it was a success i think i have rooted my phone , but now what i dont see a difference i dont feel a difference i still got low space issue
other guides talk about gold cards do i need one should i create one
i am currently downloading leedroid just to see
but now if my phone is rooted how do i fix this low space issue thanx

One you've rooted you'll see a superuser app in your app list. This just means you have root access, you still need to flash (load) a rom with the ability to install apps on the sd card I.e. apps2sd.

Once you've confirmed you have root access, google leedroid, and go to the xda link, follow the instructions on the first post.
