You need to create a backup which you can install the same way you're gonna flash the custom rom. Check xda, you'll probably use clockwork to do it. I wouldn't be too concerned with going back unless you want to revert for warrantee purposes. custom roms are on another level. Stick with leedroid, it's simple and is a sense rom. Just follow the instructions closely and make sure you understand them, browsing other guides will give you some insight.

yeah i am trying with rom manager now . to back up n install the leedroid rom
 
ok so i rooted i installed leedroid n well its got a fancy boot and all that n a whole lot of other stuff but i still HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM LOW SPACE i have to manually move the apps to sd card even then i still have low space and my news reader does not work so now i am wondering what was the point . is there something i am doing wrong cause now i am confused about all the hype of rooting and still having the same errors n going one step back cause my news widget is not working its just stuck on loading . this is real frustrating

Have you formatted your SD card to use A2SD+ instead of the manual A2SD (and downloaded the A2SD+ version of leedroid obviously)? Meaning you have to format the SD to have an EXT partition of 512 with ROM Manager, and then install Leedroid. If this is what you have done I can't see how you still have space issues...
 
well i manage to get leedroid i must say i am not really impressed and kinda don’t see what all the hype was about rooting . i still got low space issues , yess i have apps2sd
on the leedroid guide it talked about partitioning card to ext3 ,
but also talked about this not being important since i am running froyo ,
could the partit0ining be my problem thanx

if u dont make an ext 3 partition then a2sd+ is not going to work
partition your sd card with ext 3
make a backup of your sd first!
 
Do the formatting and the partition. froyo apps2sd is not the same thing. I have 200+ apps installed.

And maybe google the benefits of rooting, besides apps2sd+. Google is your friend.

Like they said, for A2SD+ you need EXT3. Anyway I originally rooted for the same reason, space issues. Play around with different ROM's and you will quickly see the things you can't do without rooting. Also, we can debate around using A2SD or A2SD+ all day, go google a bit and see what both of them offers you, and then decide what you want. Personally I took A2SD+ cause I don't need to do anything, I just go mad and it works in the background.
 
ok so i created the partition now what do i have to install leedroid again to see a difference , sure enough there are many guides on line and Google is my friend but thee is just so much various stuff its all too confusing thanx guys for your comments much appreciated

as far as i know u just need to make the partition. and if u have an a2sd+ rom then it will automatically show a bigger internal memory

Im not entirely sure man, have not done the partitioning after the ROM before... To give you an idea of how it should look, I have Oxygen ROM installed (link in my sig btw) and at the moment I have 58 apps/games installed on my phone (AppBrain List) and I currently have 126Mb available on internal memory!
 
If you format and partition after you've installed your rom, then you should lose all the info on your sd card. Anyway....

1. Check that you've downloaded the A2SD+ rom. Version 2.3 was released today, so maybe download that one.
2. Backup if you want to, using Titanium backup (I haven't actually done a restore, so not familiar with this), and/or creat an app list on app brain that you can resync your apps automatically after the install.
3. Do the partitioning and the formatting again. If you want to keep the contents of your sd card, just copy everything to your pc, and then at then end copy everything back. You're basically taking your FAT32 and creating a FAT32 and EXT partition.
4. Flash the rom, from Rom manager, and then the radio. Get these files from Leedroid's dropbox link. When you reboot, you should have a lot more internal memory - but also you don't have any apps installed besides what came with the rom. You may wish to use an app called Quick System Info PRO, it'll show you APPS2SD, Internal, System, and SD Card storage.
5. Reinstall all your apps using AppBrain - sync (lots of data). Your internal memory will still be used to some extent, but you will see A2SD storage start being used, and some Internal Storage.

OPTIONAL
6. Flash blue carbon theme - awesome! The same way you flashed the rom.
7. Brut maps - you might want to uninstall the stock maps - up to you.

I have 126 (user) apps/games, using A2SD 457MB Free:84.38, Internal 148 MB Free:23.75
 
Why don't you just S-Off your phone and install a custom partition table?

It gave me 190MB of space to install apps (Non-Sense ROMs)

It might be less than that with the sense ROMs but it would be higher than what you normally get.

It is risky though, you could brick your phone.
 
i tried again last night i backed up my memcard to PC then created the partition with ROM manager i then installed leedroid 2.2 with a2sd and now it showed 100mb free but all my apps that i had before were there , they had not been wiped , do i have to wipe data before installing A NEW ROM thanx guys i am really getting the hang of this
 
Do a full wipe. Recommended for updates. Mandatory for new roms.

You might find your phone misbehaving if you don't.
