OFFICIAL HTC Desire Thread

1. Skype works perfectly. Make sure you download the latest release
2. There is no free navigation software for SA available. You can buy NDrive, but it's mission since you cant buy through the android market in SA just yet. Google navigation will be released in SA in the near future.
3. There are media players out there, but most free ones are crap. Get Handbrake and convert videos to MP4 and send it to you phone. Work like a charm.
4. I got a 4gb sd card from MTN. Should be the same on Vodacom. But you cant install apps to the SD card, but that doesn't matter because internal storage is enough.
5. Andriod is great, comming from Symbian and a few generations of WinMo I can tell you I will never go back.

Applications you must have:

1. SWIPE
2. HandCent sms
3. Seepu CPU
4. Gentle alarm
5. Task Killer
6. Phone Use
7. Launcher Pro (a must)
 
okay guys so whos using the desire hd roms.now that they have the camera working and im sure 720p video recording will be soon. im tempted to root and put the hd rom on
but any of you guys using it?
what works? what else doesnt work? any bugs?

Well all is up and running 100% now. Very happy with the new theme. :D

I use mybackup pro to backup everything and SD card doesn't get formatted at all

Been running RCMixHD for a week now. Haven't come across any bugs as yet, apart from with the newly released camera fix (720p camcorder is borked and some photo effects don't work). HTCSense.com thinks I have a Desire HD & the site works perfectly, apart from server issues on their side every so often. HTC Hub and Locations (navigation) both work as they would on an HD. The only thing I don't use on the phone is Flickr...

With the addition of Apps2SD (which is needed for the HD ROMs anyway) I've still got 80mb or so app space left with plenty of apps installed. It feels like I've got a new phone again - I can happily say I don't feel the hunger to flog my phone & get an HD that I thought I would. Apart from a bigger screen - which brings with it a bulky body - and an 8mp camera instead of 5mp, I now have a Desire HD for all intents and purposes.

Just to correct you there buddy - you can install apps to the SD. Android Froyo 2.2 has this feature now. ;)

Mayurh: I will give the HD Rom a try over this weekend. :)
 
Actually mind change.. I am going to try the new HD ROM now since the camera is working. :D

the camcorder is still not working and laggy 720 playback
 
I see that however that has been a problem on all ROMs since day one - so makes little difference to me....although there is normal format on video recording I am sure?

Haven't had a chance to flash the HD ROM yet as from what I can see - I need to make a lot of changes to the SD card and all sorts of things. Once I get the correct way of flashing done - I will do it and report my finding back. :)
 
I need some help urgently I was trying to flash to LeeDrOiD_v2.2f_A2SD and on the first step reboot into recovery the phone is now displaying a blank screen with a pic of a phone and a red triangle with a cautions sign what should I do?

Ok managed to get past the red triangle screen and think that i flashed correctly. I kind of followed the steps below
1. Reboot the fone into recovery (one with the blue writing on the screen)
2. On the blue writing screen (recovery) > choose apply update.zip
3. It will then take you to the green menu screen.
4. Go into wipe cache “only”, don’t choose the wipe data factory reset option as this will clear everything you have installed
5. Then go into wipe dalvik cache,
6. Then go to apply zip from SD card, and choose the new ROM 2.2fA2SD you have copied to the SD card root folder originally
 
I am connected to my office secured wi-fi connection, I however can not connect to the net. When I called leaf they say that android does not cater proxy settings. Does anyone know how i can overcome this?
 
I am going to throw on RCMixHD as well. Was just waiting for the cam fix, I have not used the video recorder once before so that is a null bug for me :)

check on the xda forum.im sure u'l find some help.
did you root your phone first?
