Vodafone 543 touchscreen smartphone expected to cost R500

Why oh why is the iPhone being punted in this article? It's completely irrelevant.
Get a Vodafone for R500 or get an iPhone for R10'000...

I was indeed surprised when I received feedback from Vodacom. The two phones were initially priced at R400 for the Vodafone 546 and R500 – R600 for the Vodafone 543 touch screen, but somehow the 546 became much more expensive.

I guess we have to wait and see what the pricing will be when it hits the shops…maybe Vodacom got it wrong.
 
Yeh - I'd love to see one. Still a pretty decent price considering.

yes...this one can send mms....can the new iphone do that?
I remember the old one couldn't until the software update :-)

Thats my plan - I hardly use my phone any-more for anything besides calls , email and occasionally SMS - oh and the GPS, but I can get a standalone one.
 
Will definitely get one.
My samsung omnia got stolen and waiting for the galaxy S!
 
For that price, of course! The only problem is the price seems a tad bit unstable...
 
I think the article meant to say 2 megapixel camera, not display :P

Yeah ... "For a bit more" you can get an iphone ... yeah ... 1600% more ... sheesh. Why not punt a cheaper option such as the HTC Smart or Sony Ericsson X10 Mini or something?
 
Good question- my phone has been dead since Friday - it finally came back to life today.
