New uncapped ADSL FUP: High end users beware

I wonder who is the brain surgeon who defined the IS policy.

If I buy the account, I just have no idea of what I can and cannot use on a monthly basis. That is far to limiting that my usage is based on what others use????? This is definitely no uncapped.

Stick with the MWeb one. Far better value.

And worse still they don't say by how much or for how long you will be shaped if your in that 50%....IS...you fail!
 
I have to agree - It seems as if IS top dogs have been smoking something!!! Doesn't look good at all. Will have to see what the next month or two delievers for me with regard to my so called Axxess Uncapped + account. Might have to give them the boot.......

You get what you pay for. Get a an uncapped 4MB account with no FUP and you will see a massive price difference but the 50% user base is a bit surprising though.
 
This is BS...it's a sliding scale...so if everyone uses 20 GB and i use 25 i will be shaped...next month people will use less....so if they use 10Gb and i now use 15 GB i will be shaped.
even if i downloaded less than last month???? wtf???


anyway 70,000 users for mweb at average R300 = 21 Mil....
go mweb!!! buy more BW!!!!

1. 10 day Rolling Window - If you're in Top 20% of IS users for this connection speed, you will be shaped
2. User Policy applies 24/7, Weekends & Public Holidays
3. For the 4096kbps Account, if you're in Top 50% of IS users for this connection speed, you will be shaped

So you're encouraging mass high-end downloading so that even moderate users can actually use the accounts without being shaped? Did anyone at IS actually think this through?

i suspect they didn't think that through.

either that or they are trying to phase out uncapped altogether
 
Wow! 50% of user's shaped?!! :sick: And they don't report what they shape them too! Good job I"m not with IS - major fail!

Uncapped should be uncapped. If they are going to severely limit you like that you might as well buy one of the fixed data packages!
 
What they need to do is email you to let you know you are approaching the threshold... and what it is.
 
And so... Mweb's "Free The Web" campaign results in those who were using uncapped and paying a premium for it long before are now subject to the same stupid rules.

This is why we warned you not to accept the crap Mweb product. You do a deal with the devil and end up having all kinds of restrictions and policies included that degrade the entire system performance for everybody.

Now it is being adopted by other providers as well. Thanks a lot Mweb :mad: You've really done us a great service here. I don't even use your crappy product and now I have to abide by similar obscure and unfair rules.

If IS go ahead with this... I will be canceling my order.

And the irony is.... if we could have all refused these stupid User agreements and held off for another six months... EASSy will soon be online and masses more bandwidth will be available. But now it will all be subject to some stupid Fair Use Agreement that limits our enjoyment of the all the bandwidth we will soon be getting.

I will not use any ISP or product that tells me how I am to use the bandwidth that I am paying for. You go ahead if you want. If you like to be told how to spend your money and what kind of service to expect. But not me. No thanks.

Now all of you sheep can come in here and whine about how great this product is for you... cos you only use 10 Gigs a month anyway. You guys have no idea what real internet is anyway. You had the chance to join the rest of the world here in getting some real bandwidth... but you chose to do a deal with the devil and now you are stuck... we are all stuck.

Not me... I'm waiting for someone to release a real true genuine uncapped product that is not a load of crap. I can wait.

This is BS. My torrent didn't finish last night (3kb per sec) and now it says 30 BYTES PER SECOND. If that isn't throttling, Rudi can bite my bum.

People can use 2GB Average, their network will be 100% FINE, yet if you use 5GB you get throttled.... this doesn't seam fair to me
