System Link =/= Xbox Live
 
The price might be a little high, but its still worth it. I'm just sooo excited that all the campaigning has finally resulted in the service being offered locally. More gamers online locally mean more gamers playing games on local bandwidth for games that self-host like Call of Duty, Halo, Forza, etc.

Everyone signup if you haven't already - I wouldn't migrate though, not just yet.

At almost double what a 12 month UK subscription would cost me at mspoints.co.za and we do not get last.fm, netflix or any other service that really makes this worth while. Sorry Microsoft but don't expect too many people to jump on the local service at these costs.

Disappointing really, another example of how the SA consumer gets raped.

agreed, at $50 (R350) a year for a US account, why should we pay more.. And you dont just want xbox live for 1 year.
But if you can transfer your remaining sub over, then just buy 2/3 years before you migrate.

Arent xbox live subs region free? if you buy a code online and it should work worldwide?

Its more expensive than the international 12 month live cards being sold. but why. Its supposed to be cheaper?

According to the FAQ:
Q: Will I keep any remaining subscription time on my Xbox LIVE account?
A: Yes. Any time remaining on your existing LIVE account will be transferred to your new account (and rounded up to the nearest month).

So yes, it does seem like a temporary solution until your 12months expire ;)

50 bucks a month doesn't sound too bad to me. I'll be getting it.
 
Xbox rates arent going to increase that much though. $10 in the US & 1 Pound in the UK (3 month subscription).

But surely some of the current LIVE subscription retailers will off lower prices.
 
Do any of you guys what's the maximum term you can have on your subscription. I'm thinking with the Dollar/Rand so low why not get a few years worth of subscriptions now for the next few years.
 
I'm guessing that migrating will result in my losing Sky Player, Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, Zune, OXM report (and other magazine-type programs), great XBL subscription and other deals, ... Why on earth would I move from my UK account?

No thanks.
