I've been with MWeb for the past 6/5months now and have been very satisfied with their service. So I've decided to upgrade my line from a 512kb to a 4mb line. I checked with them and they said yes my line can be converted.

So I sent through all my documentation and they replied saying it should take 7-10 days at most. Now since the peering issue of late I queryed with Mweb about the status of my upgrade and they said that it will now take an undetermined amount of time as Telkom has pushed all of Mweb's orders to a much lower priority.

Customer agent I spoke said that Mwebs hands are tied over this as ultimately Telkom have control over my line.

Low blow Telkom.

Boycott Telkom and join Amobia or another wireless group if you can. Telkom are no longer in my house, whoop whoop :)

If they have enough evidence, then maybe MWeb can take some kind of legal action against them.

Whoah! I just had quick look at the Amobia pricing - must say it looks mighty attractive - how reliable (speed and uptime), what's the customer service like and do you know what they mean by "Malicious & excessive abuse of uncapped bandwidth "

Why not phone Telkom directly to upgrade the sync speed of your ADSL line. Once this has been completed Mweb can do their part.

Now whose actions are "not in the spirit of the internet community"??
You know a company is utterly pathetic when they resort to a cheap shot like this.

Hey

They no longer have an excessive use policy so download as much as you like. Service is awesome and I have a wireless phone service with my own 021 number through them

Check my HATE Telkom thread for speed and ping tests.

I'm currently on their 3 meg uncapped product and loving it

+1 Too true. And MWeb's action was actually very much in the spirit of the internet community. We all know absolutely nothing would happen to benefit the internet community any time soon if Telkom/MTN etc were just left to run things the way they used too.

I doubt Telkom would do such a thing. This could land them in Hot water at the Competition Commision.

It depends on the service level agreement between the two parties... you'll probably find that they are now abiding by it to the letter - no more favours, etc.

damn hope this is not true, as im waiting for telkom to activate my dsl at the exchange, bought it though mweb and would love it running before 9 nov :P

I've been liasing with Mweb mostly, but will give Telkom a call this week when I have time. I dont look forward to dealing with their customer service though.

If only your line wasn't with MWeb.
As I dont pay the telephone bill at home, Mweb's single price option makes payment a hell of a lot easier though.

Chances are I wont get coverage in my area, My area always seems to be neglected when it comes to wireless services.

^ LOL

I've just been relaying my story so far, which has mostly been interactions with Mweb who havent done me wrong in the past (except for once where they lost my documents). Will feedback after I get hold of telkom though.

This is a very bold statement, without proper proof I will not believe it. For some reason Mweb has been very quickly to point fingers at Telkom for everything. If there is a problem they need to sort it out! we are paying customers and don't give a damn who the wrong party is, if I purchase something as a customer I don't want to know about their suppliers... otherwise whats stopping me just to purchase directly from the supplier.

I find it hard to believe that Telkom is trying to get back at Mweb like that. The claim is probably just another form of passing the buck by mweb.

My thoughts exactly. Companies simple passing the buck.
