Chrome 8 shines with new features

I have come to love Chrome so much than IE and Safari. I had some bugs which caused Chrome to abend/crash but somehow that has gone away. I'm not sure if it's MS that fixed it or Google, but that is not important. I hope the new one doesn't introduce new bugs.

Already running Chrome 8.0.552.215 beta. It's great!

Not sure if my hardware acceleration is working correctly, as IE9 beta still kicks dust in Chrome's face when it comes to the IE Fishtank. But maybe it's optimized for IE9.

I'm blown away by the Chrome app store. The new york times app is particularly impressive. I can't help but feel its release is an event potentially bigger and more important that the original iphone app store. Within six months i suspect there will be atleast 50 thousand apps or more.

Go install some apps.

I have been using 8 for a while already, does it get automatic updates before official release?

I think only Chrome 9 will have hardware acceleration. Firefox 4 will too. I use the Firefox 4 beta at home but its too unstable for office work. I use FireFox 3 for that but have been considering switching to Chrome.

I am a Mac user and always preferred Safari until recently. I notice that Safari hogs RAM use, sometimes dropping the available RAM by as much as 500MB. Chrome doesn't use this resource as much and I've switched for majority of my browsing.

Not so sure about that, cos Chrome now puts every "tab" in its own sandbox, for security purposes. But, I've got 8GB RAM on my pc, so not fussed at all. ;)

Yeah and check out my app: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lmigddncdfcmnccclpimmgcjgcfgplpe?hl=en-US

Still need a bit of work though, but give it a bash :D

I like it, but the one thing I don't accept is the speed claim. If every version of Chrome is really n times faster than the previous version it should by now be doing stuff before I even think about it!

Using the beta as well its great and dropped Firefox forever since July 2010 & new IE cause it just works better. There are no crashes like Firefox and as for I.E pages load up and Chrome is still a faster browser. On other news currently installing the Chrome OS.

I don't use the IE fishtank every day, but I do spend a lot of time accessing websites, and Chrome and Firefox both kick dust in IE's face at that task.

I like the idea of the built-in PDF viewer because Adobe has turned to sh-t these last few years, on all levels.
