Internet Timing-Out randomly.. Afrihost

Timing out or disconnecting? I've been getting random disconnects, and then have to wait and reconnect a few seconds later. If I try to redial straight away I get an error 619 :/

Happens on my webafrica account as well.

What could be wrong when the one moment you sitting at perfect line speed then the next moment its slower than a dailup, alll within 10-20min. It it my ISP or exhange?

I've been experiencing "time outs" for the last 20-30 days now too. At first I thought they were intermittant but it seems to happen once an hour every hour from 8PM until late. I had this on Afrihost, but then at the beginning of the month I changed to my Telkom account, and I have the exact same issue. It's very brief, and the only time I notice it is when gaming, because I get kicked out of the game. It's literally a few seconds of no traffic, and then returns to normal. My ADSL stays up, and the PPPOE connections stay connected.

Not sure if it's related, and could well be ADSL related, not ISP, but jut sharing my experience.

This has been happening to me last 2 days on afrihost, bloody irritating.Any1 else having problems?

Happening to me on WebAfrica AND Afrihost.

Can't even complete a speedtest. It times out.

+1 here, at all of my sites. 10 mins up, then a dip to zero, or almost zero, then back up after a min. Been about a week I have noticed it now.
All on Afrihost - switching to SAIX accounts now.

It's gotten so bad I cannot even download a 95meg file if the server doesn't allow resume.

Strange thing is it doesn't seem ISP related, some affected are on IS, others on Telkom etc. Also, not everyone's complaining so does that mean not everyone's affected? Yet its not localized either (Durbs, Johburg, Pta etc). Both Afrihost & Telkom (in my case) deny there's any problems on their network so what can it be?

Is Telkom's badly maintained ADSL network finally starting to cave?
