Is there a software that if I give it a folder with tens of thousands of tracks in it, it will organise them nicely into folders for me?

Apparently there is a piece of software that will analyse your mp3 files and tag them properly (you can specify how they are named). So you could name them Artist Song Genre Album etc which afterwards would be easy to sort and then pull into folders.

Don't ask me the name of the application but someone here mentioned it before.

iTunes does that. It sorts your music into folders, based on id3 track.

I use Magic MP3 Tagger first. This looks at available ID info and suggests what the file should be. Once all of the info is checked/corrected (you can also look up to online info servers). It updates the file ID tag and moves (if you want) it into a new folder, with a folder structure you determined upfront. The file name layout is also determined by you.

As a second step I use Media monkey (free version) to update the album art and to put some final touches onto it should it still be required. I use Media monkey as my default player anyway, so this is not really an extra step for me.

If there is no file info and I cannot figure out what cd/artist/song it is, I use Shazam to identify...and then I'll start with magic mp3 tagger.

Unfortunately, if you don't buy the mp3 tagger, you can only tag 5 files at a time, and there's a stupid timer to waste your time. 'Fixing' your old collection might take you a while, but each new addition to your collection could quickly be taken through this process. Takes probably 4 minutes.

Use this to fix your tags & album art first, then use the fire renamer to move everything into separate folders according to artist/album however you like it.

Also looking for something similar to sort my collection.
Ideally i would want to have it sort & move mp3's in folder eg. Year\Genre\Rls_Here or Year\Genre\Artist\Rls_Here
Which one of those mentioned can do this?

I think MediaMonkey may be able to do that. Check out their website, you may be able to confirm it there.

Tried MediaMonkey, works nicely except for one problem.
Files located in d:\music, so create sort tag eg. \<year>\<genre>\<folder>
But it creates \2010\Rock\music\rlsname how do i get rid of the \music\ in there?

As mentioned already: iTunes

iTunes not doing what i need, so far in MM i get what i need except its creating that the root folder again before the album/release name.

Ok, I'm ready to go down this road.

What is the best method of doing this.

I need it to rename all my music by Artist - Album - Song.

Some of my music just has a vague song name so it will have to lookup data online. How much bandwidth will this eat (25000 items)?

Anybody know of a Linux based app for this?
