Internet Explorer 6: It's time to say goodbye - Microsoft

Who uses Internet Explorer anyway?
looks like - most of China. Lets move on to chrome/safari/opera/firefox already.
 
IE6 doesn't have tabbed browsing, right? How can people do any browsing without tabs? :wtf: This boggles my mind.
 
That quote should read as follows:

“Friends don’t let friends use Internet Explorer. And neither should acquaintances. Educate others about moving off of Internet Explorer ,” Microsoft said.
 
Typical MS misdirection ... A countdown typically implies a DATE or a TIME that you are counting towards, right... so they're counting down to say cheers to IE6 ... when? oh, no date, guess that means never!
 
Companies... should just stop developing for the crap product and tell anyone that complains to sod off, that will kill it off.
 
The main reason so many people still use IE 6 is because a lot of corporate intranets were designed to specifically work with IE 6. Because of this, and the cost of the redeveloping these intranets to work with normal browsers, most corporate networks still deploy IE 6 as their standard browser.
 
Have been trying Firefox Beta 12 for a few weeks now. Very fast. I'm impressed.
Don't think I will ever switch back to IE.
 
I just loaded IE9, must say I'm impressed with it, I've almost ditched chrome 10beta....mayb it's just a phase, but it seems faster then chrome. I got bored with opera. I prefer opera's download manager tho.
But IE6, damn that's going back a few years...shame

And they reload Windows XP machines and dont bother to update :erm:
 
If the majority are in China, and the majority of Chinese users have pirated Windows, somebody send them an iso with WindowsXP cracked and with IE removed already - and Chrome/Firefox/Safari/Opera/whatever else installed of course :D

This... I was used to tabbed browsing long before IE had it, and can't imagine NOT having it. One thing I hate are sites that open links in separate windows, I force them into a tab if that's the case.

Am aware of a business organisation which only recently upgraded to XP SP3. The only reason seems to be to upgrade to IE7. :wtf:
 
I agree 100%, however why stop with IE6 why not just get rid of IE all together & rather switch over to Firefox or Chrome :p

This is a unique opportunity to severely wound several flying rats with one stone. Just block all IP addresses that originate from China and the world´s malware and IE6 problems will be drastically reduced overnight.

I work for such a company. The IT department here is afraid of Vista (understandably) and 7(?). They say xp is familiar and they like it. WTF?!

We still buy pcs then force the supplier to downgrade to XP. Did it 3 weeks ago.

At least it is sp3 now, last year they were still insisting on having sp2.

Ahm, what about IE7 and IE8 which is also not web standards compliant. Typical Microsoft, they mess up time and time again and then make it as if the customer is at fault.

And making IE9 only compatible with >Vista, just shows how irresponsible they are.
 
I have literally never used IE (except for sites that needed it), I started surfing in the Netscape 2 / 3 days (circa 95, 96), followed it when it became Mozilla Suite, then moved from that when it 'evolved into' FireFox. Now I use mainly FF and Chrome.

I agree that it's time we all kill IE6 dead, but if you're going to upgrade someone's browser, might as well put them on a better browser like Chrome or FF.
 
I wonder if they'll go the whole hog and say, "Friends don't let friends use Windows". That will do more good in the world than all of Bill Gates' humanitarian efforts to date.
