Had to get a working version of IE6 on a Windows 7 pc for a client 2 days ago due to them using a management suite called (and ironically so) Opera. It's either them upgrading their server and spending 2000k on the updated version, or that. I eventually had to get it going on a Virtual Machine. It was the only way. Oh I hate IE6!

Do all online Browsers use up the same amount of Bandwith or are some more Economical than others?
Opera Mini for Cellphones uses Compression technology & uses less data....
Does any techno-fundi have a suggestion or comment?

The Opera browser has a feature called Turbo, which crunches websites to lower bandwidth versions for slow connections. Usually it works very fast and well. It works similar to Opera Mini. It also tells you how much compression it was able to apply.

Older people who don't know better. People who have to concentrate on moving the mouse pointer. I know people like that. They just know to click on the big blue "E" on their desktop to see the interwebs. Probably don't even know that it is called a browser and that there are other options available.

Good move - the only way to get people to upgrade is to block it on the site.

From a web developer perspective, the amount of time it takes to make a site play nice with IE6 is much better spent on providing a better experience for those customers that bothered to upgrade their browser within say the last 5 years. Especially since between Firefox, Safari and Chrome consumers have 3 excellent and free replacements to choose from.
