You can now have your 8ta prepaid SIM made non-roaming.

Forward your 8ta number and contact details to [email protected]

Please allow three working days to process.

Please make this a sticky note

This is no longer required, see this post.

Just sent an email off. Will see what happens.

Was a bit peed off when I put my 8ta sim in and it wouldn't let me connect to the 65502 network.

Confused..... So by that you mean that you will be forced on 8ta towers and if there is no 8ta towers nearby you will have no network?

The headline says non-roaming,not:give you access to home network. Im thinking no mtn access

afaik it means you can only connect to 8ta towers (anywhere). Where they have network coverage overlaps it will roam on their own network.

What 8ta means is that with the "non-roaming" simcard if you are in the 8ta home network coverage area, and your phone is set to automatic network selection, your phone will "park" on the 8ta network. If you move out of the 8ta coverage area, your phone will use MTN.

Note that if this happens while you're on a call, the call will be dropped.

I have a 8ta simcard and whilst I'm just out of the 8ta 3G coverage map zone I did notice that I'm able to pick up the SA 02 network.. Is this 8ta's 3G network that I'm detecting? If I select this network I cannot connect to it though? Sim works fine on MTN network, but I'd like to be able to use my simcard to detect whether I would be able to make use of the 10GB promo! Do I need to send my details through?

Also done ... so hoping Tuesday or Wednesday I can check signal ;)

Then sign up and brace myself for the contract approval issue that others have!

EDIT : I see there's no confirmation of receipt at all. Do we just wait until Wednedsay and resubmit?

You will receive confirmation once done/completed.

If you would like to test the 8ta network we can change your 8ta prepaid SIM to non-roaming. Please forward your contact detail and 8ta number to [email protected]. Please give us 3 working days to process.

Thanks for the clarification. It's important then to not buy big data bundles on these simcards if I'm going to be on the move.

We are allowing this so that you can truly test the 8ta network and if you like what you are experiencing you can then sign up for the Internet 5 Promo.

That's what I meant. They're only good for checking 8ta 3G coverage.

I'm already on .... you've migrated me ;)

And yea - I get signal ... so I reckon I'll go brave the shop tomorrow!
