The content management system we use for the MyBroadband news site will officially stop supporting IE6 with its next release, which means that MyBB won't be able to officially support Microsoft's antique browser anymore either.

I don't expect the site to suddenly not work in IE6 anymore, but just in case it does this is your heads-up :-)

Our most recent stats say that about 2.34% (6.94% of 33.73%) of visits to MyBroadband happen from IE6. If anyone from that userbase happens to see this, it's time to upgrade your browser.

...not

Aaaaw, now I HAVE to upgrade! :(

;)

Kudus to MyBB (or the CRM) for supporting IE6 for so long - it is horrible to maintain support for the beast AND all the proper, modern browsers.

I'm surprised you made it this far. All my quotes explicitly state any website I build will absolutely and in no bloody way work with anything as archaic as IE6.

... Ah, you see it happens like this: During those few minutes it takes for me to download and install the latest version of FF/etc on a PC I'm working on/fixing I have no choice but to open myadsl using the IE version installed on the machine. In most cases, IE6 or something similarly ancient. :p

Why anyone uses IE6 anymore is beyond me. :wtf:
As long as websites still support it. People and companies will have to upgrade their browsers if websites don't support it anymore. But unfortunately some webmasters will always introduce hacks to try and show how clever they are. Good for MYBB for ending the support.

How about doing an article on this on the main page? That way it might expose more people to this move. Then you can also state how to upgrade to IE8/9, or move to Firefox/Opera/Chrome. :)
