Vodacom officially unveils their new Cape Town Data Centre

"Officially unveil", ie: tell the public. Data centre openings are so boring! Where's the party? Where's the booze? Where's the person cutting the ribbon?

sin_x, this might be hard for you, but please read my post carefully and you'll notice that I said I worked with Chris in the past, thus I know him as a standup guy...in future read carefully before posting rubbish replies.

You may have worked with the individual, but he does not own this data centre. It belongs to vodacom, and whether the DC is rubbish or not, he will always tell you it is amazing.

Just like the honest, stand-up guys at MTN that will tell you they have the best DCs in the world (cos they conserve energy by switching them off all the time :D ).

By the way, I have a bridge I'd like to sell. You interested?

Anyway, this place looks AWESOME at night. Love the LED colour-changing facade.
 
Great News, now I hope this means that redundancy on the Vodacom network is improved, and we will not see a repeat of the Nationwide outage experienced recently.....;)
