Multiview free TV: Shortsighted or stupid?

I demand an apology for the time I wasted reading this article. What a heap of crap. If you search for "multiview" on dstv.com or multichoice.co.za it comes back with 0 hits. Errr, what's the issue? It's obviously going to be SOMETHINGview because that's kind of an obvious choice, Multichoice has no claim to that suffix. Freeview isn't an option to use, because you'll get idiots buying "freeview" decoders around the world and they won't work here.

What's stupid is this article. Ben's obviously paid by the word and is having a laugh at the easy money. Couldnt have taken more than 5 mins to write.

Stupid article.There's nothing wrong with the name.Its a PLATFORM NOT A SERVICE,it doesn't even need a name,Ben.Most countries currently in use didn't name it anything,but no,we gotta follow
uk,nz.While you're at it BEN,why not start complaining why our payservice is called dstv and not Sky.

AFAIK the STBs won't have the ability to do that. It's not an encoded service like DSTV and you won't have a smart-card. Although knowing this government they'll put something like that in and keep it a secret until after the fact :p

But on the other hand none of the new TVs with built-in digital tuners will have that. Lol, imagine the SABC being able to switch off your TV, they won't even let you watch DSTV :D
 
If they think they can launch the 'service' under the said name and get away with it, then clearly they are going to be run by a bunch of morons.

That is a given with the SABC.

Interesting article - thanks. They had better think up a new name quickly or the proposed service will launch 5 years late after the inevitable court battles over the name.

nobody has monopoly on the prefix "Multi". It's an english word available to anyone who wants to use it, PERIOD. I might as well start MultiWatch.
 
Good opinion piece. Thanks, I enjoyed reading it, lolled quite a bit. Definitely a stupid name. Pretty sure the ASA will force them to change it, should Multichoice lodge a complaint. Will be a straight forward ruling methinks.

Unless of course Multichoice are in on it.

a lot of complaining, criticism and name calling but no solutions or even suggestions. Brings to my mind an old saying: ''let the one who thinks it can't be done leave the one who is doing it alone''
 
LOL maybe the name was chosen to spite Multichoice, if that is the case I say brilliant
 
Can multiview be accessed using TV cards

I currently receive the digital signals via an Asus Hybrid TV card. In one of the articles on Multiview, i read that SABC and ETV have come up with some encryption for their signals. Does this mean that i will have to buy a Multiview set top box yet i already have a device capable of receiving the signal?
