BlackBerry users could claim a refund says National Consumer Commissioner

So I can go get me a Galaxy SII?

My torch is 329 on topup 200 and the galaxy is the same price ;)

reeeeaaally? We'd rather want a refund from local council and government for ongoing crap and non delivery of services that we pay for each month.... the real stuff affecting people's lives.... we're not getting very far with that either :-(

If its a free service, what is the refund? If the service is R49 per month are you looking at R4?

Confused?

if i upgraded in mayish? would that count, i'm so gatvol of this blackberry

Surely then refunds can also be claimed for Seacom being down?

Bloody stupid to try and claim R4... but I'm assuming you could claim for loss of income.... not sure how you'd prove it though.

but I'm assuming you could claim for loss of income.....
i had the winning lotto numbers (fo sho!), and couldnt enter the online ticket, coz BB internet not working... so i lost out on the winnings... so RIM must cough up!

But it's a service that went down. The actual Blackberry devices were still working just fine.

What an idiot....

Ms Mohlala said consumers who had bought their BlackBerry handsets after April could return them and demand another brand with an equal value, or a refund, because the service promised was not delivered. The consumer commission has so far received one complaint from a BlackBerry user.

Are you sure about that ? For a 3 day break in service. ?

Cool well then i'm going to make a list of things that could have the same rule applied.

This means that because VC was down for an entire day a while back, they must give all 10 million of their customers a new phone ?

Utter retard.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

There's an easier way to handle this. Instead of the consumer having to go through yet some more trouble either getting another handset or getting a refund - the service providers can give the consumer a choice (eg. Vodacon via *111#) between certain amount of free sms's / mms's / data / phone call time. Let the consumer decide what he/she wants for the value of say R6.00. Then they just add it to each person's profile, like they did the first two months that I got my bb. They called it Promotional Data, but it could be any of the above options. When the refunded service of R6.00 value are up, it's done. Everybody wins and there will be no more reason to cry over unfairness etc. It's just the easiest way to refund all bb users and end this 3 day bad spell.

No one will do that because BBtards are too in love with their phones.

erm, sorry, im so gatvol of this blackberry crap!!, the 3g is slower than gprs on any other phone, i would GLADLY swap my torch for a htc desire hd, or (pushing it, sensation) :)

This is stupid. Services occasionally fail. Such is life. No need to roast the provider with draconian legislation....CPA and NCA were necessary, but not for this. Hell its not even the SPs fault.
