I see my previous thread was closed. The reason I made a separate thread was to warn people because nobody ever reads the Network Issues thread. I should have been more descriptive though.

CellC has really gotten worse. Every few minutes the red light on my modem comes on and I can't do anything for a minute or so. It has led me it to fits of rage and screaming out. I do make sure I scream out at CellC as well so people know what the problem is. The security in my complex as well as my neighbours came knocking on my door once to find out what the commotion was about. Told them it was because of my **** CellC connection.

The network seems to get even worse (if that's even possible) on Sunday nights. Most probably because of all the prepaid users trying to use up their free bandwidth before it expires at midnight. I don't care about speeds. Give me a steady 500kbps or even 200kbps and I'll be happy. The red light on the modem is driving me crazy.

Are you sure that it is not your router or modem that is the problem ?

I sometimes have similar issues, in my case I know that it is the router that is causing the problem.

It can't be the modem. It seems to be and overloaded network. My connnection doesn't disconnect. I just get no throughput (red light) for a random amount of time. I found it more likely to happen at around about fixed times. 19:30, 20:00, 20:30, 21:00, 21:30, etc. This shows that the poor connection is because of too many people connecting at the same. I also have no throughput at random times, even in the wee hours of the morning when hardly anybody should be online.

After i updated the 3G dongle firmware i keep getting disconnected and now can't see how much data i have left.

 !!

If it was too many people connecting at the same time, it wouldn't be at fixed times! People don't try and use the same connection only every half hour (unless you live in a very strange neighbourhood).

Eliminate one thing at a time. Try it in your computer (eliminates the router), move around to eliminate position, try different towers etc.

The fixed time timeouts is the main reason I think it's because of too many people connecting. It's not exactly at those times, sometimes it happens a few minutes earlier or later or not at all. After the 7:00 news, after TV shows which all have a schedule, etc. These are the times you'd expect a sudden increase in people connecting and these are the times (mostly) when I timeout.

I use the modem directly plugged into my laptop by the way. No router.

And there it gets closed again.
