Fake DVD arrests

Nine people have been arrested for the production of counterfeit DVDs worth R160,000 in Eersterust, Pretoria east, Gauteng police said on Sunday.
 
I read the title and thought "So they're arresting fake DVD's now" :D
 
You would think the police have more important crimes to concentrate on rather than wasting valuable resources on this.
 
yet in other metropolitan areas of the country these pirates are free to ply their trade.
 
Drive around in Joburg and watch the DVDs being sold on the street corners. Sit long enough and wait and you would see the police buying DVDs from these street vendors. The supplier would rockup sometimes in his 4x4 to get the money and offload more DVDs. The DVDs is obvious fakes from a distance.
 
R160,000 ..... So all I need is 3 PC's and 5 Printers:whistle:
 
Methinks the ISPs are behind this. Dwindling number of uncapped subscribers and what not.

Youthinks wrong for a variety of reasons:

Firstly piracy has been going on for looong before uncapped.
Next - you can rip a movie right from the disc in about 10 minutes and duplicate it an infinite amount of times which (in my opinion) is much easier than having to wait for a download to complete...
Also its not an ISP's fault if people pirate movies, it is illegal no matter how you do it.

You're clearly still on 384 :-)

Although, ripping HD is admitedly quicker than downloading it with our current ADSL speeds.
