  2. Wait for the response containing the reference number. In the meantime call MWEB Customer Contact Centre on 021 596-8480 and check whether they have your Cancellation for Transfer request, and when they expect it to be actioned (expect a minimum of 3 working days, and a maximum of three weeks - mine took a week).

    Good Day

    Thank you for your e-mail.

The requested services ( mydomain.co.za) have been scheduled to terminate on dd/bb/yyyy, following one calendar month notice.

Please advise your new ISP to send the transfer ticket. We only have 24 hours to accept the ticket, therefore we advise that you contact [email protected] as soon as the ticket has been sent for us to accept the ticket immediately.

The following products remain active on the account:

Good post. Mods, please sticky.

Also, you might need to resend the cancellation the cancellation to mweb several times. They are obviously not too keen to lose customers but that doesn't excuse their 'policy' of ignoring cancellation requests.

MWEB Call centre staff also give out an incorrect cancellation address to clients like [email protected] or [email protected]. I wonder if they do this deliberately?

I don't understand why mweb can't provide the option for clients to log in to a control panel and request termination and transfer of domains

I think that is standard practice. I moved from Hetzner to Serve Hosting and it took several goes to get it right

Serve Hosting charge me R 90,00 a quarter, 150gb useage, unlimited email addresses, 50gb space, control panel and very helpful when I got stuck. Excellent webmail too

To make things simple, i think you should cancell everything. Make backup of what is on your server. Then go and signup at the new hosting company you want to use. Copy those files you backed up onto that server. If your website uses server technology eg: PHP, Mysql, asp, etc, check that the hosting plan you sign up for supports it.

As far as your domain goes, you don't have to cancel it. When you sign up with your new hosting, they will give you 2-4 addresses known as name servers. Take those name servers and fill them in your domain, under domain management (or similar),
. Once all that is setup, your site is back on the internet!
