iPhone 4S Vodacom contract pricing emerges

No thank you, I will stick to my Samsung Galaxy S2! cheaper, better and uses a unrestricted platform called Android!

I'm a big Mac fan but I prefer android phones. Why do people assume all people are brand fanatics? OsX is still an open platform (in the sense of unrestricted software), while iOS is closed.

iPhone Talk 120 contract including 120 minutes, 100 SMS, 500MB data is R450 (had my call today, delivery on Sat morning)

Also, VC currently only offer new lines, not upgrades or migrations from pre-paid

Come on! I registered twice (accidentally) with my Vodacom number and registered with my CellC number. They are yet to call any of them!

EDIT: And the page doesn't work any more. Can't register - keep on getting errors.

Almost time for an upgrade, from a Nokia E72 (yes, don't laugh!). I'm considering the Note. Perhaps the Galaxy S2 and the iPhone4S are the other contenders? I do quite a bit of phoning and surfing during the day. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is the 500MB for the duration of the contract? If so then this is not a bad deal at all

lol. Well it's true. This dude tries to troll and spoil a thread about the iPhone 4S so I just thought I'd point that out.

I've used both platforms and the 'openess' of Android does not work in practice as it does in theory and I honestly just prefer the so called 'closed' system of iOS as everything just works and I never have hassles.

But I'm not here to debate about that, but his fundamentally flawed statement and signature was why I said what I said. Lol. Thought it would bring everyone a chuckle or two.

Btw I recently reported problems with my iPhone 4S on iOS5.01 related to the signal issues ("Searching" constantly and "Invalid SIM") and terrible battery life.

As I also mentioned I would be installing iOS5.1 beta 2 to see if it would correct the issues. In summary; YES the problem is resolved... it's still not an official release but I'm more confident that it's not a hardware issue and will be fixed by the official release of iOS5.1 :D

/EDIT It's definitely fixed by iOS5.1 beta 2; since I upgraded from iOS5.01 my 4S has not lost signal even once + the battery is definitely improved :)

Man, this irks me. Did the guy who phoned you tell you this? What motivates me to stay with Vodacom then if my business is less important than new business? I might just move away from Vodacom and go to MTN.

Does the R450 quoted earlier exclude a once-off pay-in for the phone or is it already worked into the monthly R450?

From the Vodacom page you can select if you want the phone as an upgrade or new contract. Also 16, 32 or 64G. The page still worked for me today:

Yup, I know. Tried it again about an hour ago (as Vodacom has not yet contacted me - upgrade or new contract) and got an error. Tried it again now and it says I've already registered (which is true).

Oh well, I'll queue on Friday I guess. Wonder where in Gauteng is the biggest chance that you'll get one...

You want to queue for a phone?

Just ask someone with an iPhone 4 to show you their phone, the 4S looks exactly the same. :p

To see the new notifications, ask anyone with an Android phone. :)
