MTN confirms smartphone service data bundle pricing

I still don't see how this is better than just buying a regular bundle since according to them you just get overcharged after reaching the threshold rather then throttled...

Too confusing. Too many bundles.

Should rather have 1 bundle @R59 with benefits of all those packages. Even if still 75megs bundled.

“Once the customer has reached the fair use limit, an overcharge will apply.”

Taukobong added that MTN Smartphone Services are similar to the Blackberry Internet Service, but aimed at customers using different smartphone handsets.

I don't see how this relates to BIS type service (uncapped-ish) Internet.

Please enlighten me Taukobong.

After 75MB has been reached, an over charge will apply?

So it's not a flat-rated service, not unlimited. Can't be a similar package or competition to BIS sorry.

Excuse me, just being lazy on this one and not following up.

  1. MTN Branded Opera Mini browser - Where to get?
  2. an overcharge will apply. - How?&How much???
  3. purchased via the self-service channels - Where's this?
  4. Once the customer has reached the fair use limit - Fair to 75MB?But is'nt that the same as buying a bundle?

Well with Vodacom Color (for under 25`s) you able to get the "color your friends" package at R29, which is essentially a 100mb data bundle with 100 free smses. That makes far more sense then what MTN is trying here.

i can get 100mb for R49 from vodacom prepaid bundles- to do any browsing i wish...so how is paying R49 for 75mb competitive on any level??

This doesn't answer any of my questions.

75MB for what? The whole month? Per day?

What happens when you exceed your limit? What exactly is this "overcharge?"

How is this like Blackberry Internet Service if it's not uncapped?

If we were given a limit of 75MB/day and throttled thereafter, that would still be OK, but this seems completely pointless and confusing...

It says per month in the article?
