What would you guys say is the best pre, intra and post workout supplements? (my views here are for putting on quality muscle and size but nothing too hectic and loosing unwanted fat)

IMO id say -

Pre = MusclePharm assault

Intra = (havent taken anything during my workouts but i hear Gaspari Size up is the best, ill start taking that soon and let you guys know how it is)

Post = Muscle Science Optimum anabolic

Ive used a lot of other stuff before like Jack3d, Gaspari super pump max, ripped hardcore, some USN stuff (USN IMO is absolutely useless and a waste of money), various proteins, etc etc but the above mentioned is the best that ive used. Jack3d is also brilliant but Assualt def has the edge over that.

What would you guys say is the best in the diff categories?

Pre - I have used evox 3dt and pshyco - there is a lot of debate around pre workouts though

Intra - :/

Post - I just hit a evox synergy shake

This will probably get the best response if it were posted in the body builders thread.

That said, either way, you going to get plenty of different opinions - including guys punting the stuff they import themselves.

I recently started gyming again with a mate of mine (about a week ago :D ) We do a lot of free weights (fairly balanced workout targeting the major muscle groups) and I decided to drink USN Muscle Fuel STS but I am not sure if this would help or whether it is correct. I am not really planning to get the whole lumber jack look but I do want to look a tad better and hopefully lose some weight. During the workout I drink a lot of water. Post, well I just made sure that my diet is slightly better chowing more fruit and veg.

Do I really need more? I am very scared of using supplements as I have high blood pressure.

supplements are called supplements for a reason, they are there to supplement, guys often forget this.

And USN is rubbish :p

Important:
Diet
Rest
Training

I frankly like evox synergy and can recommend that, i am no expert but you should be okay on that (my dad also takes it and has high blood pressure - he is on chronic medication for it)

Also drink more water leading up to training, dont just drink water at training, you should be well hydrated before you train.

there is some good diet advice on the anabolic steroids forum by a guy called DJ

but that makes the jewels shrivel like sun dried tomatoes, no? :p

OT: i found it extremely weird that I body really only starts hurting 2days later :?

I'm training at the mo just for better fitness and use the following:

Whey protein with glutomine and BCA as a before drink/breakfast supplement. I also use 3 CLAA capsules every morning.
Cytomaze as a during workout drink to recover so I can carry on my day.

lol i don't take juice, they just have good diet info on there.

yeah you always are more stiff the day after the day after :p

As other have said stay away from USN/Biogen crap.

Evox Synergy whey is good when taken with breakfast, as a snack or before bedtime but if you're keen on muscle gain it shouldn't be taken post workout. After muscle training the body needs carbs (preferably simple carbs i.e. sugars) and protein so look for a shake that has a 1:1 or 1:2 protein to carb ratio (Evox 5XL Muscle Meal or Evox Mega Grow).

I don't use anything during my workout...just drink water.

As other have said, supplements are just that and the most important things are your actual workout, diet and rest.

In order for this discussion to be both meaningful and useful, you will need to specify what are each of those supplements beyond their brand/product names.
This isn't limited to OP.

e.g Evox Synergy is a whey protein supplement.

Why does MusclePharm assault have the edge?

And intra, just take BCAA's.

During intense weight training the body is normally in a highly catabolic condition. At this time glycogen stores are being rapidly depleted and the liver in turn must synthesize glucose by a conversion of L-Alanine. Alanine makes up over half of the amino acid content released from muscles during exercise.

The release of BCAA's is generally recognized as the signal to the body to stop protein syntheses in the muscles, especially during times of stress. Providing the Branch Chain Amino Acids, especially during those times of stress may profoundly affect this signal and allow protein synthesis to continue onward.

Pre: MusclePharm Assault - From what ive used this product seems to be the best because when you take it you just start twitching and wanna get going! its gives you that tingly skin sensation (not sure of the technical name) and you can definetly see an improvement in your training in the form of energy, duration and that extra boost when you finishing a set!

Intra: Gaspari SizeOn, this is just a monster! after using it for just a week i can already feel and see a difference in my muscle growth, also very good in terms of giving you the extra strength you need to finish your set!

Post: Muscle science Optimun Anabolic, ive been using this for ages now as my main choice of a post shake as i think it really works by giving you extra size and repairing your muscle after an intense workout! very balanced shake...

True that changing your muscle state from catabolic to anabolic will definitely ensure that muscle tissue doesn't diminish, but you still need protein in order for protein synthesis to continue. If you aren't getting that protein in your diet, then you need to get it via a supplement.

Sounds like some sort of stimulant. A thermogenic fat burner possibly? Is this a pill?

Is this a powder? The name sounds like a mass builder (high protein, high carb meal replacement) but the 'effects' that you describe sound a lot like creatine.

This is probably a fancy name for the BCAAs that xrapidx was suggesting.

Yup, again dont do supplements that are in pill form. (use to take muscle science ripped hardcore which are pils when i first started but never again anything in pill form) it is a mass builder, high levels of creatine.

I like it because as i said from my personal experience i know for a fact that it works for me. Both in mass building and recovery. Everybody has their own preference to different supplements, some might be great for you but not be so good for the next guy, etc.
