SA's tablet PC market is going strong

Isn't it a little strange that many of the MYBB tablet surveys don't follow market share?
Are people without tablets voting, or have some people found a way to manipulate the results?

MyBB isn't really the normal market in anycase. Most people here like to tinker, that is why this forum will be skewed more towards the android side.

i work with a a few of the largest e-commerce sites in SA and when looking at analytics, iPad traffic is about 5 times the traffic of all other tablets combined. if you look at all mobile traffic, then iOS takes about two thirds of the traffic, then BB, then android.
So maybe people are buying a lot of android devices, but i do wonder what they use them for as they don't seem to be going online much with them...

Maybe they're busy installing custom ROMs, UI and rooting (not in that order). That does take a bit of time leaving little time for "internetting" on the device:D

Very interesting. Could you tell us what you do with this info?

iPad is the leader for good reason. As far as tablets go it is the best of the lot. I will recommend the iPad for 80% of those asking my advice on buying a tablet.

Personally I'm now using Android tablets but it is not for everyone ... yet. Honeycomb is not Google's best effort and I hope ICS and Jelly Bean will be a better effort ... but once Samsung gets hold of it and puts TouchWiz on it all bets are off. This is why Apple gets it right ... no other parties messing around with the OS.

That's similar to what Boingo said a couple of months ago, with 80% of USA airports Wifi usage coming from iOS.

The prevailing theory is that many Android purchases are not from people specifically buying smartphones, but from people happening to get an Android when they got their free upgrade with their contract. As such, they don't really use the smartphone capabilities of it

World Wide Worx reveals its findings on the number of tablets sold in SA

My instinct says that the iPad numbers are understated.

If WWW saysthat thereare 315,000 tablets and iPad has a 60% market share then there are only 189,000 iPads.
But FNB sold 55,000 (all iPads?)
Hey there are 3 of the things in my house and there will be 4 (1 for each family member) when the new one hits these shores

Just like the MyBB sample is corrupted by the tinkerers I suppose the sample I am exposed to (largely people in companies and people owning their own businesses) is equally corrupted.
The number of people I come across directly (and know pretty well, I am not counting people I see in coffee shops and airports) that have iPads is too difficult to work out. It's more than 75.
Flip side is that I know 1XPlaybook user and about 2 Galaxy Users.
On the phone side I know a good number of Android users and lots of iPhone and BB users.
