DStv satellite switch-over: is your equipment ready?

If you live in a complex with a centralized dish, read the article and find out if you're on a single cable system.

If not and you own a HD PVR,make sure you've got at least a 80cm dish installed by 17 September 2012.
 
Let me rephrase - MC claims not to have any "immediate" plans to switch to DVB-S2.

Although we all know it's inevitable! Personally I enjoyed Geoff's quote on the DStv Forum "I am sure that MC will not try this until the new IS20 satellite is in place! The migration to the new satellite transponders will probably include a period where some channels are transmitted simultaneously on both DVB S and DVB - S2. It makes sense to me to do the change over then.
I will try and resist saying " It told you so" about the larger antenna requirement, when people start complaining about poor performance on HD channels when working through the smaller antennas.
Just watch the misery and discontent that is going to arise when this happens from those living in complexes with inadequate communal antenna systems! :)

I just wish they didn't condemn single cable systems, the way they do. There are many complexes where 5 cable still makes no sense, even though single cable now costs more. All we need is a single cable option in the network setup, with all the settings pre-loaded.

Sadly, MC have always "recommended" one thing and "accepted" many others (up to the point when the sh@t hits the fan) over the years....

Reprogramming of a head-end module and then later, depending on the brand used, three or two new modules must be added.

I don't have any of that equipment. What should I do?
