nice, now i must just get myself a cell c micro sim.

So this line bothers me:

However, Cell C will only use the spectrum in areas where it will not influence the company’s existing mobile data network.

Where will this be? Most of the big cities where spectrum is very scarce?

Consumers can further expect to pay the same for LTE as for Cell C’s other data products.

This statement is sure to pee Vodacom and MTN off... they probably wanted to sell LTE based data as a premium product...

This actually irritates me - at some point LTE was said to be the new last-mile replacement for copper. But keeping LTE at 3.75G prices are still way more expensive than ADSL.

At least Cell C has given us what we can expect LTE to cost.

Im disappointed its going to cost the same as current 3G pricing, I was hoping it would be on par with ADSL pricing.

I wonder how much will 8ta LTE cost?

LTE is an upgrade of current 3G so why would the price be any different, its like saying you expecting to pay less on a 10mb adsl line then on a 4mb line.

I'm thinking 8ta is planning to give you much more data - else why would they launch their LTE trial with 50GB per user (when they could have done 5?). They want to stress-test it, me thinks!

Consumers can further expect to pay the same for LTE as for Cell C’s other data products. Knott-Craig said that he considers a megabyte of data to be the same across a 2G, 3G or LTE network, and that there will be no differentiated pricing on data products according to speed.

As much as I dislike the guy - this ^ makes sense.

I thought spectrum was such a scarce commodity for operators and that they were unable to move ahead with LTE plans because of ICASA hangups with the allocation of spectrum?

New technology is usually charged at a premium, to help recoup investment costs of installing that technology.

However, if you see the new technology as a cost of keeping up, then his statement makes sense. I guess there is already budget for upgrades, etc, built in to the cost of the existing data bundles.

There are no devices on 2100. ZTE will probably start producing for Cell C if the demand is great.

I dont understand how they are going to rollout LTE on 2100, do they have enough spectrum? Unless they are going to do 5mhz??
