Vodacom working on simpler pre-paid data

A simpler data bundle purchasing method may therefore help to move consumers away from expensive R2.00 per MB data charges.

Paaalllleeeeeeeeeeeessssssssseeeeeeeee!?

Alternatively, wouldn't it be so so so so so so so much simpler to just charge a reasonable flat rate and be done with OOB nonsense altogether?

Idiots.

We need 20GB for R999, valid for a year.

That is still a lot more expensive than Cell C (100GB for R2499), so enough profit margin for Vodacom !

I will believe it when I see it, nothing about Vodacom is ever "simple".

It is understood that many Vodacom customers are still paying high out-of-bundle data rates (R2.00 per MB), despite the fact that they can save lots of money by [-]purchasing a data bundle[/-] moving to CellC.

FTFY

D Ont side step the real problem

Yeah, but the problem with that is that Cell C seems to be getting congested, their backbones cannot handle the load.

This seems to apply to many areas.

Amazes me that Vodacom says it listens and responds to it's customers requests/needs... but yet the OOB rate is still R2.00/mb... shows that Vodacom can be deaf when they want too!

Jannie, let's hear Vodacom's reasoning for keeping the OOB rate so high??

This is already possible through internet banking with most of the big banks. You can purchase a data bundle directly without having to load airtime. Nothing new about this at all.

Jannie why dont Vodacom just lower the oob? Would that not help a bit or is it not feasible?

If they dropped that rate to 45c per meg most of these issues would go away.

It would still be very expensive (Cell C 15c per meg), but it would still be an incentive to rather get a data bundle.

This 200c per meg thing is just a total rip, no matter how you look at it.
