Thanks for the feedback.

We did tests as well, and it looked like we were throttled to 384kbps on download speeds, while upload speeds were unchanged. 4Mbps line...

My pleasure rpm!

Exactly mkhan! I expected much worse. As long as I can email Skype and do the basic browsing, my internet needs are satisfied.

We just discovered that YouTube is not working being SoftCapped! You can browse videos but not watch them...

Although I can't be stingy since it's free, I still really hope I get more than 384kbps speeds on my 10Mbps line once soft-capped. I mean, 10Mbps is the premium home package, it wouldn't make sense if it is throttled to the same as a 2Mb line for example.

Only have 2GB of cap left, so I'll probably be posting some results tomorrow or on Sunday at the latest.

How much did you download for the softcap to kick in?

I downloaded 10GB. Still using the old Telkom DO2 package. We started off with 2GB at 384kbps eventually increasing to 10GB on 1Mbps. Still paying R258pm - I think it is a good deal with the Softcap!

OpenWeb had 1mbs Uncapped on special last week for R109pm. Just add ADSL line rental.

Cool, but I need the Telkom email account at this stage!

I think MyBB should do a survey that asks:
Are you staying with your current ISP simply because you've come to rely on the email address that was provided with your ISP account, instead of using one of the myriad free email providers OR paying a modest amount to have your own domain + mail accounts hosted somewhere?

That's a gamble I took. No, you won't. :/ That's fair though, 4Mb and 10Mb shouldn't be treated differently post-cap. Problem for me came in where I couldn't even watch 240p youtube without buffering for hours. It might look like 384k or even more, but it's pretty evident that there's more to it than that - some things properly come to a standstill. If e-mail and banking is all you absolutely need when soft-capped, then it may be the product for you, but to me that's just "Mom and pop", as the phrase has been coined
