Article: R50 million meant for 2010 World Cup has gone missing

Around R50 million meant for 2010 World Cup legacy projects in the Eastern Cape has gone missing, The Times reported on Tuesday.

Parliament's sport portfolio committee was investigating the matter. Committee chairman Richard Mdakane said the discovery of the missing funds was made in June last year.
 
I don't whats worse, the fact someone took 50 million rand, or the fact they are so relaxed on bookwork that they did know when or who took the money...

And I'll offer both of mine including a few arms and a neck. 50 million into budget for hospitals / police / schools / housing and upliftment, would do ****ing wonders, not to mention the couple of hundred million just going into Zuma's house

But this is for self-enrichment, not help building the country. We'd be better off with no government.

i know there's some kind of "white power" stigma surrounded with this, but if you delve into Orania, you'll see it's about helping the community, building/uplifting and at it's core it's doing that. It's setting a trend that the entire country can follow, self-governing, self-sufficient. 100% matric pass rate since they started. Overall 98% pass rate. Little to no crime (I think the one guy's kid had his bike stolen by a drifter like 2 years ago?)

I could go on. But still. You get a mismanaged municipality shorting 50 million? ugh.... we'll forever stay a 3rd world country, even if we're the "1st world country of Africa"

Doesn't matter how much we build and push forward the economy of this country by the grit of our teeth, there'll be a ton of corrupt just stealing the money they so easily hand out to those on welfare etc
 
Government are terrible payers. They never have the money because it's always squandered somewhere besides where it is there for.
 
It's been nearly 20 years since the first democratically elected government and poverty and misery seem just as widespread. Other countries in Asia though have experienced rapid standard of living improvements in the same period of time. I am sure that there were very noticeable signs of improvement for some race groups twenty years after the National Party came to power in South Africa.
 
I wish I worked in an institution that has so much money they do not even account for 50 million... gosh...
