Microsoft says OS update to be called Windows 8.1

Glad to hear it is free, previous rumoured reports suggested that a $25 upgrade fee would have been applicable… Since this upgrade (Service Pack) is a step forward in regard with user experience, I would like Microsoft to provide a basic changelog and compared changes to Windows 8.

Build has already leaked. More information to be expected at winbeta or neowin...

A guy I know is already running the leaked build; I created a thread a while back on this. It is a buggy as hell and still no start menu… Don’t know should there be any newer leaked builds available.

*if* then they would probably be on winbeta's normal channels...

Well I will give Windows 8 another try when this update is out. I hope a start button with the start menu can be brought back.

The 8.1 update does not bring the Start button back.

We'll have to wait for Windows 9......

In that case the only people who will get it will be those poor suckers with Win8 already.

No doubt all those aftermarket start button and tweaks to get rid of Metro and charms will be done away with.

the metro interface sucks, there however apps that make the crap look like windows 7 start button and all.

Are you guys still on about the missing start button???

It's still there. Yes the button isn't on the task bar (thank god, as it's a task bar not a start bar).

If you move your mouse to the bottom left of the screen and you click... guess what comes up... a start screen...

There are far more important things to complain about than a start button..

I installed Pokki's Start Menu - it is even better than the Windows 7 Start Menu.

If only someone would come up with improved themes to the headache inducing Office 2013 and a way to get rid of the CAPS bar...
