Have had one of those evenings, so forgive the ranting.

Why does Diwali (Festival of Lights) have to entail people using rockets etc to do their celebrations at home?

I've had to deal with a dog that was scared witless because some idiots felt it was their right to let off rockets at home that would shake my windows from 5 houses away. Grates me even more that after me and 4 other neighbours went over and asked nicely for them to stop they pretty much gave us the finger and continued letting off rockets, and told us in no uncertain terms that they would only stop if the police arrived and told them it was illegal.

So instead of being neighbourly and stopping since they could see we were upset, they ended up having to deal with the police and the fine that came with it.

**edit** for those who may misunderstand this. I have no issue with the smaller fireworks that don't make a ridiculous amount of noise. I also have an issue with these damn loud fireworks regardless of the day

I have a baby in the house and these things are startling him. He is now cranky. why can't people celebrate in the privacy of their homes.

Ah well there are 364 other days in the year to make his life miserable. Chain and padlock anyone? Best part is there are so many suspects he won't know who to point the finger at!

U guys dont stay in Lenz. Lol.

No sleep tonight.

I dont mind them celebrating in the early evening. Just got to be tolerant. I am surs we all do things that anoys the neighbours once in a while.

But when it goes off at 2 in the morning then some f@#ker is just being a pr@&k

And there are plenty around here

Tolerance is fine..but the rockets, beyond scaring the hell of peoples pets, they are damned irritating, and also happen to be illegal (as far as I know).

Celebrate with the smaller fireworks, roman candles, etc etc etc.. there is no need to let off large rockets.

Tolerant is putting up with small bangs and color shyte ....... for one night. This big bang/rocket fest is now on until January, tolerance can go do something to itself.

100% agreed. I do not see the association of blasting the neighbourhood to shreds and irritating all in the process to a religious "celebration". It does not in any way endear me toward the "celebration".

****ers have been going since Friday. ****ing annoying when a one day holiday turns into a 4 day ****ing fireworks nightmare.

Same issue at my place tonight. *******s letting off big rockets, causing a lot of noise. Fortunately, for them they stopped before I could see who it was.

Jaa the dick heads are at it here to and the dogs are shyting them selves . I will leave it until ten then start launching pepper balls if it dont stop.

If they are your neighbours, whip out the hose pipe and aim in the air with a slight degree pointing to their yard and let it rip.

Dont shoot the messenger

The festival of light seems to have now become the festival of sound

All I am saying is I will accept them celebrating thier customs or traditions as I know I enjoy celebrating mine. All I ask is consideration by having a cut off time. Tomorrow is Monday and work for most, and its a war zone here. And it will probably go on till the early hours so no sleep tonight

I'd love to see if a similar thread pops up around new years time when half the country is busting fireworks.. A few years back we where celebrating Diwali and our neighbour who hates Indians called the cops for us, they don't have dogs or anything. The cops came over we gave them a drink and they left, continued busting crackers the whole night. I find that people generally complain when it's Diwali but fail to do so when new years comes around, point above the same neighbours who complained about us busting fireworks on Diwali lights up the whole streets on new years eve. Although we light it up on new years as well.

This time of year at my old place in PMB I'd pull out a chair park off on the lawn overlooking the CBD and surrounding suburbs and watch the place light up like Baghdad circa 2003. Actually was impressive for the sleepy hollow.
