Hi Guys,

Just want to see if I am the only one.

This morning I suddenly lost ADSL connection, not dsl line sync, but just ISP dropped.
I have already spoken with Afrihost who has logged a fault with Telkom.
I have had a stable 10MB connection for as long as I can recall.
There is also no static or noise on the line.
Filter replaced , still the same.

When the ISP connection drops, I cannot connect to any of my ISP accounts, Afrihost, FNB or WebAfrica.
This lasts for a period of a few minutes, then ISP-anyone of them re-connects, only to drop again 10 - 30min later.
Same process repeates.

Afrihost could re-sync my line to a lower speed but that did not cure the issue.
The strange thing was not I nor they could do a Port Reset!

So just wondering if anyone else connected to the Brackenfell exchange 021-981, 982 are having strange disconnect issues similar to my experience today?

What a way to exit the old year:erm:

Happy New Year!

EDIT:

Those on Brackenfell exchange or in the area who would like to get VDSL should make sure they have registered there line or address for this service, it will give indication to Telkom where to prioritize roll-out in the next financial budget year.
I sure can do with a stable MSAN closer to home and some descent speeds, it will even pave the way for Fiber Optic to the home.

I am having the same issue in Brackenfell, Vredekloof. Line connects and then disconnects 30 minutes or so later. Cannot connect to any ISP, getting PAP timeout errors on the router.

Exactly what I am experiencing, then must be some issue at the Exchange.
I have now set my router to G.DMT modulation to see if it stabilizes the connection.

Lucky!

"I have had a stable 10MB connection for as long as I can recall." You are lucky! Moved into home in Protea Heights in May 2013. My Internet (and landline) has been down 5 times now. Takes 2 weeks for Telkom to fix each time.

I can hit the exchange with a stone if I throw hard enough.

Wow 2 weeks!! the odd times I had line issues they where here within 24 hours resolving issues.
Maybe they avoid Protea Heights due to there infrastructure.
Wish they will get their behinds in gear and roll out MSAN's so I can upgrade to VDSL.

Mine has been stable. Had an issue last night but a port reset quickly fixed that.

I just spoke to a nice Lady at Telkom, tested my line and then tried to reset/recreate my port.
She then informed me she notice that there seems to be a network failure in the area, and she will escalate the incident as urgent to the technical department.
Not sure how quick this will be resolved with new year and all and then boxing day for us Capetonian's

Have exactly the same issue. I stay in Vredekloof.

Phone 10210 and explain your line runs for 30min then disconnects for 15min then reconnects for 30min and so it keeps repeating, ask them to re-create your port and see if there is any network issue in your area.

I phoned regarding this early today (I have ADSL and Data at Telkom) and the lady said that they have got a problem at the exchange. Sucks losing connection every half hour though.

it is driving me nuts, cannot get anything done without interruption and then wait for like 15min for the connection to restore.
been since 11am would have thought it be resolved by now.

Oddly enough when I switched to Afrihost I burned through my 1gb without a single disconnect.

Maybe I struck it lucky.

I guess not enough people phoned in to complain, so is on low priority.

Same issue, Brackenfell Vredekloof. Mine started doing this since yesterday afternoon some time. On off on off the whole time.

Nice. Same issue in Brackenfell and of course Telkom made it sound like the problem is on my end. After resetting my port and having the problem persist, they told me to call my ISP. Brilliant service as usual, Telkom.

Still a problem. Constant disconnects. Telkom bringing in the new year with a bang.
