OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

MrBeep has clarified this many times in the past. If I remember correctly, those concurrent connections shown on IS are not necessarily people sharing your account, but people sharing your 'pipe' (whatever that is).

MrBeep has always told us the IS tool might not be accurate. For as long as I can remember.

We do not log usage or session stats on uncapped accounts by default. Therefore, the information you see on third party tools will not represent the correct information relating to your account.

My humblest apologies, however this is the first time you've mentioned specifically this.

What are the possible explanations for 2 to up to 4/5 sessions with the same OpenWeb username when checking the IS user stats page?

Where is the error occurring? Is it wrong?

Waiting to hear from the OP.

I cannot comment until I have had a look at the account.

However, if the OP is using an account that does not log usage stats, he will see a variety of different sessions and connections on the third party monitoring tools.

If the OP wishes to have accurate details logged, we will transfer him to a realm that supports this.

I'm on uncapped therefore don't need usage stats
I want to know why is someone else using my username

I'm sorry but that does little to explain why there are two connections from the same account, at all.

People on the same 'pipe' get given different credentials as each 'pipe' is split up into x amount of accounts/contention/etc. They surely aren't given the same accounts?

Perhaps usage may not be accurate, but I don't understand how sessions can be inaccurate, this much is clear.

I take it you weren't around when this was raised about 2 months ago? IIRC a forumite was actually in contact with another with the same credentials, IIRC it was put down to a bug in the system.

We deal with each case individually.

Currently I cannot see any second physical active session on this users account.

I have provided him with options which will allow him to monitor stats / and / or change his password.

That much I understand. IS themselves are doing the logging in question.

Look forward to hearing about Kido's query in this thread.

Great, then why does the IS tool report what it is? Is there a reason for this, or is this something you cannot explain?

I imagine the password will be changed, it will be interesting to check the IS stats again in a few hours/days.

I suspect there will be one session.

As explained earlier, the new CP will offer more information once ready on individual accounts.

I have changed the user in question to an account that monitors usage stats.

Didn't the OP ask for a password change? Why have they received a new account?

I'm well aware of the new CP, and I'm sure there are many waiting patiently since it was mentioned earlier last year.

Why does the IS tool report what it is? Is there a reason for this, or is this something you cannot explain?

Hello PostmanPot,

Kindly PM me with the details of your query so that I can escalate your concerns.

Thanks Mr Beep - I would have preferred a simple password change instead of a new username again though

If two people were sharing the same account, you would not be getting full speed after hours either, because both users will try to use the connection. However, most users seem to be getting more or less full speed after hours most of the time, with one or two reporting problems of various kinds. PostmanPot, don't you think that negates conspiracy theories of account sharing?

I suspect there will be one session.
Which means you suspect MrBeep has been lying and sharing accounts, no?
