Vodacom and MTN reputations take a big knock in 2014

Of course they have..

People are more price sensitive now than ever before... and esp in Vodacoms case, their pricing just gets more and more complicated with every new "promotion"

It is quite believable, but the fact that Telkom is in one of the top lists, shows that this report is a PoS really.

Hands up all of you who are surprised...
No-one? :wtf:

I am surprised. I think Vodacom are doing much better. They dropped their prices and introduced new packages like uChoose which I find very convenient. Vodacom is definitely not the OOB bully we used to know.

They are still a bunch of sharks. Just look at some of the packages they are still punting i.e. Vodacom 4 Less where you pay almost R3.00 per minute that while you can get the R0.79 deal. I know, its the consumers responsibility to do their homework but why do Vodacom still offer these kind of packages ? Because they are still out to get whoever they can whenever they can.

High time they and MTN apply some clarity and proper structure to their products and stop trying to fleece those who do not know better.

Telkom Mobile is the only mobile provider to EVER send out a tech to investigate the signal strength at my home. The result was that there is no LTE - and they are happy to cancel the agreement. Thats fair - try get that done with Vodacom and MTN - never...

add to that the wasted legal fees and there challenge of the CTR approach is demonstrably one of the greatest corporate ****ups of the 21st century
also note that these figures are from January and February so the damage done is understated

I love it.

When you engage with some of these top execs from these two mobile companies, the sheer arrogance just overwhelms - a sense that the world owes them something, bolstered no doubt by their share-driven wealth and being surrounded by career people willing to please. They are so used to telling suppliers, partners, channels where to get off and getting away with it.

I'm pleased the tide is turning

Nice to see their reputation is coming down, but I don't think Vodacom and MTN care that much...as long as they got the strong network, and as long as people still giving them money, I doubt they will be in deep.

management will care when the board cares which will happen when shareholders complain
taking a reputation knock and this being published rattles cages

Well what do they expect? These companies treat their customers like absolute **** and then charge them high prices for it. This all while the execs earn ridiculous salaries and bonuses

Why am I getting a "deja vu" moment as in - pre-election analysis and polls(ok ok they were showing pretty much what we woke up to) that the ANC will lose a significant amount of support(because of this and that and.....Corruption,Guptagate,Nkandla etc etc?) and then the sheeple simply reward this with more subscriber(consolidated?) numbers and improved data usage stat's?Bah! Until this translates to a significant drop in subscriber numbers and loss of market share I don't buy it and this "survey/analysis" pretty pointless to me.

I don't understand the up and down ratings between MTN and Vodacom. What could be the reasoning for this? Products? Pricing?
Is this a 4 month survey or annual?
Oh and there's a telecom company missing...

As far as I know it is an annual survey done

lots of enterprises are missing
the pertinent issue is that participating enterprises subscribe to the survey have seen a massive decline from 2013 Feb - 2014 Feb and that is before they really became stupid or CellC launched its most aggressive campaign to paint them as greedy. CellC was depending on market research data of a similar nature when they acted.
It is a survey on perception and the perception is that the BAUT are on the wrong track and so is the reality - the reality is of course a little more complex
