UPDATE:- The scatter file and CWM recovery rom files included in my downloads won't work with the latest Gobii IVP's just received by Kalahari. As such I am removing them and will, on request, add instructions here on how to create them.

I would like to root my Gobii @iandale when you do get a moment please post some update here. Thanks for all the great work you have done :D

Great Job man.Lots of effort put into it.I remember reading on XDA about kingo Root, and i think the conclusion was that it was safe because the devs released all app info to xda admins. However i dont have the link for that particular discussion.

It would be better to avoid kingo though if you are unsure

Is there any way of rooting the new IVPs? Version v1.0 seems rootable but v1.1 doesn't seem to have any instructions.

Rooted with Kingo Root. Download, install software (PC) press root, wait for 10 mins. Rooted.

He helped me setup the Gobii he was/is a super cool dude really

I did it!
I was about to message Iandale, but my OCD kicked in.
I downloaded iroot 1.7.9.
The first time it failed, the second time it requested access on my phone, to which i clicked yes and pow, 1.1 Gobii rooted!
Make sure!
In USB debugging, verify apps over USB unchecked, and in security, allow apps from unknown sources checked and verify apps unchecked!

Now i wonder which Lollipop rom will work for Gobii IVP?

Let me know what you do next also interested

Warning!

I read a post earlier in the year where Iansdale warned against Kingo because it may contain spyware that sends your serial number and IMEI to servers in China.
I researched Vroot and it also has mention.

I downloaded a third party root checker and it does however confirm the device is rooted.

Rather let me run the risk of buggering my pretty little Gobii, then you all jump on the bandwagon and potentially ruin your phone.
