Altech Node: video-on-demand for R299 p/m

Where do you see that? You need to connect to a cloud based webservice to enable your content. Techically you'll only wait a few milliseconds for the satelite to send the pule/signal to your decoder to unlock the content

It means the content has to be there first.

Ie... library is limited to what is stored on your drive.

Start up cost start up cost, that's like a firewall to obtaining their service already. Concept is cool though

Like that the content distro does not have bandwidth costs associated with it.. People often forget to factor that in.. But here's the thing.. Is it worth 150-200 bucks more?

I'd say for the non-IT, non-uncapped or large cap users this works well.. For the upper end user or IT person who already has a decent line with a huge cap this isn't attractive due almost strictly to price point.. essentially you paying for a separate distribution channel service (side note, wonder what it costs to distribute like this via satellite and sla they provide vs time from order to ready to watch?).

But this is kinda cool.. So market is now set at 150 with your own bandwidth and 300 with theirs via sat

The article incorrectly stated that the Node has a built-in 3TB drive. This is wrong, it only has a 1TB drive. It has been updated to reflect the correct spec.

R3799 for one month of Node or R3799 for 25 months of Vidi?

Did you factor in data charges?

Most of us here already have uncapped adsl so not really an extra cost for us.

R3799 for one month of Node or R3799 for 25 months of Vidi?

Considering that not even 1/50th of our population has ADSL we're not the target market for this.

When is the launch date for this, I see their Decoders are available from DionWired already?

TV licence required , yah or nah????????????????????????????????????????

wasnt really explained:wtf:, I called up my local Dion, they fu#king clueless about the product...

Does anyone know what kind of content they provide? No use is paying so much for a decoder if there's no decent content to watch.

Until we see a content list, I can't really say i'm interested..

Also the impression i get from the advert is that the Home Automation stuff is all hinged on the items being Node branded or integrated in some way, so I will want to see the pricing on those items as well.

There's some stuff listed on the site now. Apparently they're getting Breaking Bad. Will check tonight.
