I recently placed an order at the Orange Store's South African website http://store.orange.com/za/ on the 24th September and paid via bank transfer on the same day. After a few days, when I checked my order with Orange on the above-mentioned website, payment was reported as outstanding. I contacted Orange via e-mail ([email protected]) on the 27th September with proof of payment. A consultant from the UK (using the e-mail address [email protected]) confirmed receipt of my payment (29th September).

However, on the 3rd October, I received an e-mail from [email protected] telling me that payment is *still* outstanding! I forwarded my e-mail with the consultant to [email protected] on the 4th October with proof of payment attached.

Today I phoned Orange on their Cape Town number. The same consultant who I had communicated with via e-mail spoke with me...:wtf:
She claimed that my order was at Orange's Kempton Park warehouse and they would send me an e-mail when FedEx would delivery my order.

Now I'm very confused. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. How can it be that the UK part of Orange says that my order is here in South Africa, but the South African website doesn't reflect this?Anyone experienced anything like this with Orange?

I ordered a phone from them and weeks later it still wasn't delivered. So I cancelled the order on the 25th of September. My money has still not been released.

I would never make use of them again. Their communication is crazy poor and I have no idea when I'll have my money back.

I bought a phone from them in June. It was delivered a few days later, but it was faulty. Two days after that a courier picked it up and I waited ages for the replacement.

When the replacement arrived, it was also faulty, so I had to repeat the process.

I am still waiting for my phone. Paid almost 10k and here I find myself bumming off someones S1 :/ The irony...

Price and convenience wise, they are the best. But you're screwed if you want something they don't have stock of, or if you need to RMA something. After all this, I'm not sure if I'd use them again.

Dammit, I placed an order with them last week Wednesday, I wish I knew about their bad service before doing so.

Thanks for all replies.

@Solitude Sorry to hear about your money not being returned to you. It's a bloody nuisance when people can so easily take your money, but are slow to return it..

@mr_norris Let's hope that things go much more smoothly in my case. Ten grand and an S1 makes for a deep case of irony...:p

@JoseQuervo I had looked around the web before buying from Orange. I got the impression that things were *improving*. At least one of my sister's friends put through an order and things went smoothly for her, no hiccups.

Well, I called customer support again. I waited for about 15 minutes to get through to a consultant. With his help, I was able to get my order status from 'awaiting payment' to 'in progress'.

This fellow reckoned that there had been a problem with Oranges Nedbank account, but it had been sorted out. He also informed me that part of my purchase was in Kempton Park (I'm guessing he meant more specifically OR Tambo) clearing customs and would then head out to their warehouse in Sunninghill. (I'm not superstitious, but the fact that Eskom's MegaWatt Park is in the area does not reassure me...:D) From there FedEx should pick it up for delivery to my billing address. He then offered to put through a part shipment: at now extra cost to me I should be able to receive part of my order, instead of waiting for everything to arrive at the warehouse in Joburg
All of this should happen within the week.

Let's hope that things work out. I'll keep you guys updated.

Wowee but Orange South Africa is unprofessional. They sent me a letter to give to FNB so that I can get my money released but the letter keeps referring to me as "her" and "she" and yet everywhere where they mention me by name it is "Mr." so and so. Add some very poor grammar and I'm sure that FNB will think I made up the letter.

I sent the letter through to FNB though.

I hope you get sorted out QuantumBit. I don't trust Orange South Africa at all.

Amen to that :P Fortunately my device arrived on Tuesday :D I sent through a bit of a rage mail, seems to have got things moving a bit.

I know how you feel. But I look at it this way. It's been three months since I paid for my phone and I only got it on Tuesday, yet it is STILL cheaper than buying it locally. I'd use them again, hell, people high up in the company I work for buy phones through Orange. Yes I had a pear experience, but I'm sure HTC was part of the problem.

I'll definitely consider using them if they're still around when the time comes to replace my new phone.

My phone arrived on Wednesday...:)
So far I have no problems. It would seem that my difficulties came from Nedbank (Orange Store's bank) not being able to process my transfer. As I put through a part delivery, I'm still waiting for my flip case. I'll mention when (if?) it arrives.

Yes, that is very unprofessional. Orange's minimal presence in South Africa makes it absolutely *frustrating* if things don't work out. It looks mr_norris and I are the lucky ones...

Right now, I don't know if I'll but through another order with Orange. They offer merchandise that other South African companies may not have and I do think their prices are cheaper. However, you may end up spending more time and money making sure that your order is processed. I still have to check the phone bill at the end of the month...:p

Hi guys I received my phone from orange and I ordered it on the 8th of October got it 14th October.it's a moto g 2nd ggeneration. Now o just need to buy the wall plug in charger and earphones plus leather cover.

UPDATE: I'm still yet to receive my flip case. My online account with Orange reckons it'll take 3 (working?) days.
Out of curiosity, I checked the page where the flip case can be purchased on Orange's website. They expect stock on the 27th of October. I hope nothing is amiss...

Wow, sad to see poor service from Orange Store. Perhaps contact their rep to help sort things out?

I PM'd the rep. No reply, I'm afraid...:(

They are ****ing awful. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!!!

I cancelled my order on the 24th of September after they took so damn long and they still have not released my money back into my account.

I'm fuming. **** them.

Every time I follow up their agents promise to call me back but they never do.

Pathetic. Where the **** is the orange rep?

I also haven't gotten my money back yet. I had to get an authorisation dispute form from FNB and fill that in and then Orange filled in the rest and then I sent that back to FNB. I'm waiting on a reply from FNB at the moment.

I guess if I knew that it would be such a pain to cancel an order with Orange then I wouldn't have cancelled. But then I also wonder if my phone would have been delivered by now.

Orange is the new Expansys it seems...

Ah *****balls! Hope I don't have issues with my order. Only ordered from them as it was half the normal price. Not even what I was looking for but the price made me do it.

They've confirmed they received payment and are just waiting for it to arrive from their UK warehouse. 3 days apparently.

Any good experiences with them? I'm keen on getting the Moto G from there.

Well... got an email yesterday at 4:40 saying my order was shipped and my stuff was delivered just after 9 this am... yet no prior phone call or notification over delivery times. They did send me a tracking link which was updated regularly though. I suppose I have nothing to complain about ...yet :D

Hmmm... maybe they read this thread :erm: maybe they're watching us

:p

Yes, maybe, just maybe someone is reading this thread!....

I received an e-mail from Orange today. They are expecting my flip shell to arrive at their central warehouse in two days time. From there, it should take 6 days to arrive at the Johannesburg warehouses.

I ordered the Moto G (2nd Gen.) from them. The phone works with no problems so far.

It looks like to get the best results from Orange you have to
1) Order something in stock.
2) Pay with a credit card (and not with a bank tranfer like I did).
3) Hope that you don't have to phone the call centre.
