Netflix works just fine in HD on a 4mb line.
 
We already have more than adequate bandwidth infrastructure to handle streaming services. As stated above, Netflix works just fine even on my 2MB ADSL line. This just sounds like excuses.

It's better than DSTV. I cancelled my DSTV premium subscription and now watch BBC IPlayer and Netflix only. It's more than enough for me and costs almost nothing compared to DSTV.

I think they are talking about numbers. Not even 1 million people are on ADSL. Probably needs close to that to break even.

Only if I can subscribe on a per-channel basis with no exceptions, will I even consider this. And then ony if it's affordable, not like R200 for Supersport 1 alone.

I don't want even bouquets, like sport - there are only 3 channels I use, at a push, mostly 2.

NatGeo, Discovery, Movie Magic(for repeats of **** I've already seen), BBC Lifestyle(for Top Gear).

That's it.

Are they really that innovative? Pay TV has been around in other parts of the world for a long time, as has the ability to stream content.

... and when they say "..we push the boundaries" I assume they mean the annual price increases :wtf:
 
Will probably only work on Mweb accounts and they will blame the other ISPs instead of admitting that they throttle connections to other ISPs

Agree completely. It makes no sense to change your business model while you can still screw the sheeple out of R700/m.
 
Is Netflix offering current series yet? I must admit I tried it quite a while ago and at that time it was really all old stuff.

They're improving all the time like adding a whole season as soon as the season ends. If a studio's show is not on Hulu or Netflix they will be punished...
 
Isn't a streaming service something that will scale quite nicely? Why start with massive numbers?
 
DSTV is solely responsible for the declining interest in local sport. I have lost count of the number of mates and people I run into, who have all canned their DSTV subscriptions and say they have learn't to live with the lack thereof.

Not really, if you consider that a lot of Africa have much cheaper and faster broadband then us and multichoice have the rights to distribute all over the continent... There are potentially hundreds of millions of customers.
Also they have developed the platform already the just need to scale it for the demand

If you want things as they come out Hulu+ is better for you.

Netflix only adds series once the whole season is done. Which is actually why I prefer Netflix. No waiting every week between episodes.

Yep, there was a time where i religiously followed the Rugby and Cricket, now, without DSTV? I check the scores and read the news and that's it, i really lost interest in following sport unless it happens to be showing in a pub or stadium near me. I don't really miss it, i've replaced sport watching with series watching.
