Please advice the right monitor for photo editing (a lot), Web design and occasional movie editing.

Looking for current specials I found the following candidates:

1. LG 23MP55HQ 23" R1999 @Wootware, @Evetech
2. Dell S2240L 21.5" R2046 @Takealot
3. Dell S2340L 23" R2303 @Takealot (no stock in JHB)
4. Dell S2440L 24" R2500 @Dionwired
5. Dell P2314H 23" R2596 @Wootware (with Display Port)

Size is not critical, smaller one (21") might be even better (?)
I hear many positive notes about Dell, not sure about the model.
How Dell 21.5" compares to LG?

Dell 24" seems to be different to other 'S' models (better color gamut), some sources say it is IPS panel, other say AV. If there is no much difference to the other 'S' models in colour reproduction, I would rather opt for the smaller one.

The last things. I wouldn't expect monitor with Display Port at this price range. As computer will be upgraded end of this year, Display Port is going to be used. How P2314H picture quality compare to 'S' series?

If it's for video editing you need the Dell p h series.

There's also the Dell P2214H, both it and the P2314H are S-IPS displays that technically also support Adaptive Sync.

Thanks. Looks like definitely Dell p h series. :)
I see Display Port with Adaptive Sync is going to be standard offer in future.
P2214H is listed on Pricecheck for R1666 @FirstShop (will be open on Monday), otherwise price is close to P2314H.

www.pcint.co.za has the P2412H @ R2165
I would go for the Dell P series instead of the S range. The S has a glossy coating and I found it too reflective. Go check it out in store at Dion Wired/Incredible Con...

www.tftcentral.co.uk has detailed reviews.

Got 2 of the LG's recently. Good screens, very stable picture and great colour reproduction.

Can't comment on colour reproduction form a professionals point of view but it looks good to me. Analog and HDMI ports only.

Dell as suggested. Unfortunately LG's build quality and notorious wobbly stands lets them down.

PCINT has an older model with TN panel and no Display Port, but thanks for pointing to TFTcentral, they review the currect P2414H model.

Thanks everyone, the latest P H series has well ballanced feature set at affordable price, it is an obvious choice.

Dell's 'Professional' P series of screens has always taken somewhat of a back seat to their flagship, and very popular UltraSharp U series. One of the main reasons for this is the fact Dell have utilised high end IPS panels in their U series, but stuck with the lower cost, and lower performing TN Film matrices in their P series. That is, up until now.
